The NBA 2021 All-Star Game: When Is It?
The 2021 All-Star game will be held in Indianapolis on Sunday, February 14. This will be the first time the city has hosted the game since 1985. It will also be the first time the game has been held in February since 2010.
When is the game?
The 2021 NBA All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, February 14, 2021. The game will be broadcast live on TNT at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Who is playing?
Eight players from each conference will be selected by a combination of fan, player, and media voting. The fan vote will make up 50 percent of the selection process, with the player and media votes each comprising 25 percent.
The starters will be announced on TNT on Feb. 18, eight days before the game. The reserves will be revealed on Feb. 23.
LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo are the captains for the second straight year. They’ll draft their rosters from the pool of players who were voted as starters and reserves.
What is the format?
In 2021, the NBA All-Star game will return to a traditional format. The teams will be selected by two captains who are voted in by fans, players, and a media panel. The captains will then draft their teams from the pool of player selections. This is similar to how the NFL Pro Bowl is formatted.
The game will consist of two 20-minute halves with a running clock. There will be no halftime show and no overtime period. The game will end in a tie if the score is tied after regulation time.
In 2018, the NBA All-Star game format was changed to an untimed game that was divided into four 10-minute quarters. The team that scored the most points in each quarter would win that quarter’spool of money. At the end of regulation time, the team with the most total points won the game and the entire prize pot.
How to watch?
On March 7, the NBA will hold its annual All-Star Game. The game will be played in Chicago and will air on TNT.
