There are many big Tennis tournaments coming up in the next few months. The first one is the Australian Open, which starts on January 20th. This is followed by the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
The Australian Open
The first Grand Slam® tournament of the year, the Australian Open takes place over two weeks in late January at Melbourne Park, one of the world’s great sporting venues. Known colloquially as “the happy Slam®” because of the friendly and relaxed atmosphere that pervades through the event, fans from all over the world descend on Melbourne for what has become one of Australia’s largest annual sporting events.
Since 1988, the Australian Open has been played at Melbourne Park – a sporting and entertainment complex located in the city centre. The site boasts three main courts – Rod Laver Arena, Hisense Arena and Margaret Court Arena – as well as 30 smaller courts used for junior and invitational competitions.

The French Open
The French Open, also called Roland-Garros, is a major tennis tournament held over two weeks between late May and early June at the Stade Roland-Garros in Paris, France. The venue is named after the French aviator Roland Garros. It is the second of the four annual Grand Slam tennis tournaments preceded by the Australian Open and succeeded by Wimbledon.
Wimbledon
Wimbledon is the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament in the world, and is held annually in London, United Kingdom. It is a major tournament on both the ATP and WTA Tours. Wimbledon is played on grass courts and is the only Grand Slam tournament that is still played on this surface. The tournament takes place over two weeks in late June and early July, and features singles and doubles competitions for both men and women.
The US Open
Tennis’ final Grand Slam of the year is the US Open, held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. The two-week event begins on Monday, August 26th and the Men’s Singles Championship will be decided on Sunday, September 8th.

The 2020 Olympics will be held in Tokyo, Japan from July 24th to August 9th. This will be the first time that Japan has hosted the Olympics since 1964. The main venue for the tennis tournament will be the Ariake Tennis Park, which is located in Tokyo Bay.

The Davis Cup is an annual international team event for men’s national tennis teams. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested between teams from competing countries in a one-time knock-out format. The Davis Cup began in 1900 as a challenge between the United States and Great Britain. The contest was joined by other national teams a few years later, and by 1924 had grown to include 16 nations.
The 2020 Davis Cup will be the 109th edition of the tournament, and will be held in Madrid, Spain from 23 November to 29 November. The final will take place at La Caja Mágica in Madrid.
