The tennis season is in full swing and that can only mean one thing: there are plenty of major tournaments to choose from! So when is the next big event?
Upcoming Major Tennis Tournaments
The next major tennis tournament is the French Open, which starts on May 26th and ends on June 9th. This will be followed by Wimbledon, which starts on July 1st and ends on July 14th. The US Open starts on August 26th and ends on September 8th.
Wimbledon
Wimbledon, the oldest and arguably most prestigious tennis tournament in the world, will be held from July 1-14 at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London. This grand slam tournament is the only one still played on grass courts, and it draws top players from around the globe. Wimbledon is also known for its strict dress code, which requires players to wear all-white clothing.
French Open
The French Open, also known as Roland-Garros, is a major tennis tournament held over two weeks at the Stade Roland-Garros in Paris, France. The clay court event is one of four annual Grand Slam tournaments, the other three being the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
The 2020 French Open was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will now take place from 27 September to 11 October. Rafael Nadal is the most successful player in French Open history, having won the tournament a record 12 times.
US Open
The US Open is one of the four major tennis tournaments played annually. It is the only major tournament played on hard courts, and it is held in New York City. The US Open is played during the summer, typically in late August or early September.
Future Major Tennis Tournaments
The next major tennis tournament is the Wimbledon Championships, which is scheduled to take place from 28 June to 11 July 2021. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place from 29 June to 12 July 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Australian Open is a tennis tournament held annually over the last fortnight of January in Melbourne, Australia. The tournament is the first of the four Grand Slam tennis events held each year, preceding the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
French Open
The French Open, otherwise known as Roland-Garros, is a major tennis tournament held over two weeks at the end of May and the beginning of June. It is the second of four annual Grand Slam tournaments, preceding Wimbledon and followed by the US Open. The tournament consists of five main events: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. It is held at the Stade Roland-Garros in Paris, France.

Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam tournament still played on grass. The tournament is held over two weeks in late June and early July, and culminates with the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Singles Finals, scheduled for the second Saturday and Sunday respectively.
