The WWE draft (formerly the WWE brand extension) is a process used by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE to periodically reassign its wrestlers to different brands. The draft itself is not televised, although selections are made at WWE live events, and announced by commentators during WWE programming.
2008
The WWE draft took place on June 23, 2008 and was the sixth WWE draft. It was broadcast live on USA Network. The first pick of the draft was made by the champion of each brand at the time, Triple H for Raw and Edge for SmackDown.
2009
The 2009 WWE draft took place on April 13, 2009, and was the sixth draft produced by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE. The draft was aired live on both the Raw and ECW television programs. Twenty-five draft picks were made over the course of the program—eleven by Raw, ten by ECW, and four via trades between the brands. None of WWE’s female wrestlers ( Divas) were selected in the draft. Night of Champions featured two championship matches that were a direct result of the 2009 WWE Draft.
2010
The 2010 WWE draft was the ninth WWE draft. The draft took place on April 26, 2010, and featured a random drawing of superstars that were drafted to the Raw and SmackDown brands. As in previous years, consultation was granted to general managers Bret Hart (for Raw) and Vickie Guerrero (for SmackDown). The first pick of the draft was Drew McIntyre, who was drafted to SmackDown by Guerrero. The final pick of the draft was Goldust, who was drafted to Raw by Hart. A total of fifty-six superstars were drafted.
