Rookie of the Year

The NBA Rookie of the Year Award is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) award given to the top rookie(s) of the regular season. Initiated following the 1952–53 NBA season, it confers the Eddie Gottlieb Trophy, named after the former Philadelphia Warriors head coach.

Coach of the Year

The NBA Coach of the Year Award is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) award given to the best head coach of the regular season. The winner receives the Red Auerbach Trophy, which is named in honor of the former Boston Celtics head coach and GM.

The award was first given out at the end of the 1963–64 NBA season, when Red Auerbach was named the inaugural recipient. He won it nine more times before his death in October 2006, making him the award’s most successful recipient. Phil Jackson has won the award a record 11 times, twice more than any other coach. Gregg Popovich and Pat Riley have both won it five times, and Bill Fitch, Don Nelson, Cotton Fitzsimmons and Larry Brown have each won it four times. Rick Adelman, Rick Carlisle and Dwane Casey have each won it twice.
