Rawlings first began looking into setting up a baseball factory in China because of the country’s cheap labor costs and its large population. The company also liked the fact that China was starting to become more involved in baseball.
It took Rawlings a few years to find the right location for its first Chinese factory. The city of Dalian was eventually chosen because it had a good infrastructure and was close to other suppliers that Rawlings planned to use.
