The NBA playoffs are in full swing and there are plenty of storylines to follow. Where are the playoffs being held this year?
Introduction
The National Basketball Association (NBA) playoffs are a best-of-seven elimination tournament among the top eight teams in each of the NBA’s two conferences, the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. Each conference’s bracket is fixed; there is no reseeding. All rounds are best-of-seven series; the team with four wins advances to the next round, while the other team is eliminated from playoff contention.
The NBA Playoffs Format
In the NBA, the playoffs are a best-of-seven elimination tournament among sixteen teams that have each qualified in their respective conference, either by winning a division title or earning a Wild Card berth. The four division champions in each conference (seeded 1–4 based on regular season record) earn home court advantage in the first two rounds of the playoffs, while the other teams (seeded 5–8) start on the road.
The NBA Playoffs Schedule
The NBA playoffs are a post-season tournament of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The playoffs began on April 15, 2019, after the 2018–19 NBA regular season.
The playoffs will end in June with the 2019 NBA Finals. The championship series is a best-of-seven format, and it is being played between the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference champions.
In the first two rounds of the playoffs, the four team divisional winners will be seeded first and second based on their regular season records. The other two teams in each conference with the next best records will be seeded seventh and eighth. These seedings are used to create a match-up schedule so that each team plays each other at least once during the first two rounds.
The four divisional winners will then be reseeded one through four based on their regular season records, with the winner of each conference playing the fourth seed from the opposite conference in the semifinals.
The better record between any two teams remaining in contention determines which team obtains home-court advantage in any given round.
