The NHL playoffs are underway and there is a lot of excitement in the air. The playoffs are being played in a variety of different locations, including the United States, Canada, and Europe. This year’s playoffs are sure to be exciting and there is sure to be a lot of ups and downs. Let’s take a look at where the NHL playoffs are being played in 2021.

Location

The 2021 Stanley Cup playoffs will be the playoff tournament of the National Hockey League (N NHL). The playoffs are scheduled to begin on May 15, 2021, and will end no later than July 12, 2021, with the Stanley Cup Finals .
The playoff format will feature a new division-based format in which 16 teams will qualify for the playoffs:

The top four teams in each of the four divisions. The division winners will be seeded first and second in their respective conference. The next two best teams in each conference, regardless of divisional affiliation, will be seeded third and fourth.

First-round playoff matchups are divisional matchups. The higher seed plays series at home for games 1 and 2 (and 5 and 7 if necessary). The lower seed plays at home for game 3 and 4 (and 6 if necessary). Conference-based seeding is used thereafter.

Date

The 2021 NHL Playoffs are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.

Teams

The NHL playoffs are a best-of-seven tournament held after the conclusion of the NHL’s regular season to determine the league champion and the winner of the Stanley Cup.

The playoffs began on April 11, 2021, and will end no later than June 12, 2021. The Stanley Cup Finals will be played entirely in one arena, using a new format that was approved by the league’s Board of Governors on December 10, 2020.

As of the 2019–20 season, 16 teams qualify for the playoffs each year:

the top three teams in each division (both Conference Winners and Wild Card Qualifiers) and two additional teams in each conference (), based on regular season points totals.

The playoffs are schedule to start on May 11th and will be finishing on July 8th. All games will be played in Canadian cities, with the majority in either Edmonton or Toronto.

Winter Classic

The 2021 NHL playoffs are here and winter classic is being played in lake tahoe. This is the first time in history that the outdoor game will be held in a warm-weather location and the first time it will be played on natural ice.

Teams

As of the conclusion of the 2019–20 NHL season, 24 teams have qualified for the playoffs in at least one year since the 2014 realignment. Of those 24 teams, the Chicago Blackhawks have qualified the most times, doing so eight times in a row from 2012–13 to 2019–20. The Pittsburgh Penguins have qualified seven times in a row from 2013–14 to 2019–20.
