Where Is Edge in the WWE?
Contents
WWE’s Edge was one of the most popular wrestlers in the world for many years. But where is he now?
WWE’s current landscape
WWE is currently in a bit of a transitional phase.Long-time fans may have noticed that WWE’s current product is not as good as it used to be. The company is going through a lot of changes behind the scenes, and it is reflected in the on-screen product. WWE is still a very successful company, but it is not without its flaws.
The state of WWE television
While WWE’s programming currently features a mix of established superstars and newer talent, many fans have lamented the apparent lack of established main event stars on WWE television. In particular, the absences of Edge and Brock Lesnar have been felt by some.
Edge, who is widely considered one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, has been off WWE television since he was forced to retire in 2011 due to a neck injury. Lesnar, meanwhile, has not been seen on WWE programming since he lost the WWE Universal Championship to Goldberg at WrestleMania 33 in April 2017.
Some fans have speculated that Lesnar could make his return to WWE at the Royal Rumble in January 2018, while others have speculated that Edge may never return to WWE due to his health issues. Only time will tell if either star will make their way back to WWE television.
WWE’s recent signings
In the last few years, WWE has signed a number of high-profile free agents, including Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. This has led to a renewed focus on the heavyweight division, as well as the addition of new stars to the women’s and cruiserweight divisions.
With all of these new signings, it’s easy to forget about one of WWE’s most popular Superstars of the last decade: Edge.
Edge was forced to retire in 2011 due to a neck injury, but he returned to WWE programming in 2016 as a guest star on “Raw”. In 2018, he made a cameo appearance at “WrestleMania 34” in New Orleans.
Since then, however, Edge has not been seen on WWE television. So where is he now?
As it turns out, Edge is still under contract with WWE. He is currently signed to a legend’s contract, which allows him to make occasional appearances for the company.
Edge spends most of his time these days with his wife Beth Phoenix and their two daughters. He also runs a podcast called “E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness”.
Edge’s current role
Edge as a commentator
Edge is currently serving as a commentator on WWE SmackDown. He made his debut in this role on the November 7, 2019 episode of SmackDown, sitting alongside Michael Cole and Corey Graves.
Edge as a producer
In recent years, Edge has taken on a behind the scenes role in WWE. He is currently a producer for the company. He has said that he enjoys this role and it allows him to stay close to the business and still be able to spend time with his family.
Edge’s future
Edge is a former WWE Champion, but he has been absent from WWE programming for several months. There is no clear indication of what Edge’s future holds, but there are several theories. Some believe that Edge will return to WWE programming soon, while others believe that he is content with his current situation.
Edge as a wrestler
As a wrestler, Edge spent the majority of his time as a tag team specialist. He was a five-time World Tag Team Champion, a one-time Intercontinental Champion, and a one-time United States Champion. He also won the 2001 King of the Ring tournament, and was the first Money in the Bank ladder match winner at WrestleMania 21.Edge retired from professional wrestling as a full-time performer in 2011 due to neck injuries, although he has since made occasional appearances for WWE. He returned to wrestle in the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match, making him the only WWE superstar to win both the Rumble and King of the Ring.
Edge as a General Manager
As of right now, Edge is not scheduled to be a part of WWE television. He has been off of WWE TV since he took a leave of absence in order to film the latest season of “Haven.” However, there have been rumors that Edge may return to WWE in the near future. One possibility is that he could return as a General Manager, similar to how he has been appearing on “WWE Superstars.” It is also possible that he could return as a commentator, like he did following his retirement match at WrestleMania XXVII.
