Medvedev rose through the ranks of the junior ranks quickly and won the junior Wimbledon title in 2013. He turned professional later that year and made his Grand Slam debut at the 2014 Australian Open. Medvedev has since gone on to establish himself as one of the top players on the ATP Tour, winning 19 singles titles (including two Masters 1000 titles) and reaching a career-high ranking of No. 3 in the world in September 2019.

Dmitri, who is from Russia, played football (soccer) professionally before becoming a manager at a pharmaceutical company.
