Which City Has Hosted A Major League Baseball All-Star Game?

Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game is an annual event that is held to showcase the league’s best players. The game has been held in a variety of different cities across the United States, with the most recent being in Cleveland, Ohio.

Seattle

In July of 2001, Seattle hosted the seventy-second All-Star Game. The game was played at Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners. This was the first time that Seattle had hosted the All-Star Game, and it would be the only time that it would be held in Washington state.

The American League would go on to win the game, 4-1. Alfonso Soriano of the New York Yankees hit a home run off of Curt Schilling of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the AL a lead they would never relinquish. Mariano Rivera, also of the Yankees, closed out the game for the AL and was named MVP.

The next All-Star Game would be held in Milwaukee in 2002.

San Diego

San Diego has hosted a Major League Baseball All-Star Game three times. The first MLB All-Star Game was in 1933 and was held at San Diego Stadium. The second MLB All-Star Game in San Diego was in 1992 and was held at Jack Murphy Stadium. The third and most recent MLB All-Star Game in San Diego was in 2016 and was again held at Petco Park.

San Francisco

San Francisco has hosted a Major League Baseball All-Star Game a total of 11 times. This is the most out of any city.

Los Angeles

Los Angeles has hosted the Major League Baseball All-Star Game a total of seven times. It most recently hosted the game in 2010 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. It will next host the game in 2020 at Dodger Stadium.
