There’s no question that college football is a breeding ground for NFL talent. But which college has produced the most NFL players? The answer may surprise you.
NFL Players by College
Since the NFL began in 1920, there have been a total of 4,851 NFL players. Of those 4,851 players, 320 of them played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have the most NFL players of any college.
University of Miami
The University of Miami has produced more NFL players than any other college in the nation, according to a new study.
The study, conducted by the website whichcollegehasproducedthemostnflplayers.com, found that the University of Miami has produced a total of 83 NFL players. That number is seven more than the second-place school on the list, the University of Notre Dame.
The website used data from the NFL’s official website to compile its list. It only included players who were listed as active for at least one season during the 2016-2017 season.
The top five schools on the list are as follows:
1. University of Miami: 83 players
2. University of Notre Dame: 76 players
3. Ohio State University: 75 players
4. University of Southern California: 74 players
5. University of Florida: 65 players
Ohio State University
Ohio State University has produced the most NFL players of any college, with 354 former Buckeyes playing in the league. The school is followed by Notre Dame, USC, Miami (Fla.), and Alabama.
Notable Ohio State NFL alumni include Pro Football Hall of Famers Jim Otis, Dick LeBeau, running back Eddie George, and linebacker Chris Spielman. The Buckeyes have also had 62 first-team All-Pros, tied with USC for the most of any school.
University of Notre Dame
The University of Notre Dame has produced more NFL players than any other college, with 354 players drafted since 1936. Defensive end Ross Browner was the first Notre Dame player to be drafted in the first round, going to the Cincinnati Bengals with the seventh overall pick in 1978. In all, 23 Notre Dame players have been drafted in the first round of the NFL draft.
University of Southern California
The University of Southern California (USC) has produced the most NFL players of any college, with 475 players drafted into the league as of 2020. That includes 83 first-round draft picks and 12 Hall of Famers.

There have been 1,388 NFL quarterbacks in the history of the league. 932 of those quarterbacks (67 percent) have come from just 20 colleges. The vast majority of NFL quarterbacks come from a small number of traditional football powers, with 54 percent coming from schools that have won a national championship.
The University of Notre Dame has produced the most NFL quarterbacks with 82, followed by the University of Southern California with 77. Stanford University is third with 49, Miami (Fla.) is fourth with 48 and Ohio State rounds out the top five with 47. Michigan is next with 46 NFL quarterbacks, while Penn State has produced 45.

There have been some great running backs in the NFL over the years. But which college has produced the most NFL running backs?
Here is a list of the top 10 colleges, according to Pro Football Reference, that have produced the most running backs who have gone on to play in the NFL:

Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins are a professional American football team based in the Miami metropolitan area. The Dolphins compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The Dolphins play their home games at Hard Rock Stadium in the northern suburb of Miami Gardens, Florida, and are headquartered in Davie, Florida.
The Dolphins were founded by attorney-politician Joe Robbie and actor-comedian Danny Thomas. They began play in the AFL in 1966. The region had not had a professional football team since the days of the Miami Seahawks, who played in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) in 1946, before becoming the first incarnation of the Baltimore Colts. For the first few years, the Dolphins’ full-time training facility was at Saint Andrews School, a private boys boarding prep school in Boca Raton.
