Which Is The Best NFL Team?
Contents
It’s a question that has been asked since the dawn of time, and one that we will never truly know the answer to. Which is the best NFL team?
The best NFL teams
In a sport as unpredictable as the NFL, it’s hard to say who the best team is. The New England Patriots have been dominant for years, but they’ve also been beaten by underdogs in the past. The same can be said for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks. So, who is the best team in the NFL?
The New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston region. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.
The Patriots are also headquartered at Gillette Stadium. An original member of the American Football League (AFL), the Patriots joined the NFL in 1970 as part of the AFL–NFL merger. The team advanced to eight Super Bowls, and won six of them, all under the tutelage of head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, who have combined for 19 of the team’s 22 seasons as head coach–quarterback duos. The Patriots’ dynasty began in 2001 with their first Super Bowl victory; their most recent was Super Bowl LIII, held on February 3, 2019. They are tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers for owning the record for most Super Bowl wins by a head coach–quarterback tandem (six each), and recorded an NFL record-tying eighth consecutive conference championship appearance from 2011 to 2018.
The Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) North division. Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest franchise in the AFC.
In contrast to their status as perennial also-rans in the pre-merger NFL, where they were mostly overshadowed by the presence of three other successful franchises within their own division (the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, and Baltimore Colts), since the 1970 AFL–NFL merger, the Steelers have become one of the most successful NFL franchises. They have won 8 AFC championships, tied with the Denver Broncos for second most by an AFC team behind only New England Patriots with 11; reached 15 AFC Championship Games, tied with New England for second most behind only Denver with 19; played in more conference championship games than any other team; and are tied with Dallas for second place behind Green Bay for having appeared in more Super Bowls than any other franchise with 8 appearances. The Steelers have won more Super Bowl titles (6), Super Bowl Most Valuable Players (4), conference championships (8), divisional championships (23) and playoff games (32) than any other NFL franchise.
The team is owned by Art Rooney II and operated by his son, Dan Rooney; both have majority ownership stakes in JPMorgan Chase–owned Heinz Company while Art Rooney Sr., after whom Art Rooney II was named, was a minority owner of both until his death at age 87 on August 25, 1988. The head coach is Mike Tomlin; former defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau was inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of its Class of 2010 on August 7, 2010. Joe Greene is considered one of their greatest Defensive Lineman to ever play for this organization and he led them to four Super Bowls victories during his tenure with them from 1969 to 1981 which included winning two consecutive Super Bowls following the 1974 and 1975 seasons; he was also inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of its Class of 1987 on July 30, 1987. The Steelers select their future players through an annual draft called “The First Pick National College Draft”, which is held every year during April; they have also signed undrafted college free agents who try out for a spot on their roster every year during training camp which lasts from late-July to mid-August.
The Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference North division. It is the third-oldest franchise in the NFL, dating back to 1919, and is the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team based in the United States. Home games have been played at Lambeau Field since 1957.

The Packers are the last of the “small town teams” which were common in the NFL during the league’s early days of 1922 and 1923. Founded in 1919 by Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun, the franchise traces its lineage to other semi-professional teams in Green Bay dating back to 1896. Between 1919 and 1920, the Packers competed against other semi-pro clubs from around Wisconsin and Michigan, before joining the American Professional Football Association (APFA),the forerunner of today’s NFL, in 1921. Although Green Bay is by far the smallest major league professional sports market in North America, Forbes ranked the Packers as the world’s 26th most valuable sports franchise in 2016, with a value of $2.35 billion.
