Which NFL Team Has Never Won a Super Bowl?
While there are a few teams that have never won a Super Bowl, the Buffalo Bills and the Minnesota Vikings have come the closest.
The Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills are a professional American football team based in the Buffalo–Niagara Falls metropolitan area. The Bills compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays their home games at New Era Field in Orchard Park, New York. The Bills are the only NFL team that has not won a league championship in the Super Bowl era.
The Bills have never won a Super Bowl
The most recent NFL team to win a Super Bowl was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who won Super Bowl LV in February 2021. The Buffalo Bills, on the other hand, have never won a Super Bowl in their history.
The Bills have appeared in four Super Bowls (Super Bowls XXV, XXVI, XXXI and XLVII), but they have lost all four of them. In fact, the Bills are the only team in NFL history to lose four consecutive Super Bowls.
The Bills’ last appearance in the Super Bowl was in 1993, when they lost to the Dallas Cowboys 52-17 in Super Bowl XXVII. Since then, the Bills have made it to the playoffs on eight occasions (1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2017), but they have never made it back to the Super Bowl.
They have been to the Super Bowl four times
The Buffalo Bills are a professional American football team based in Buffalo, New York. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The Bills have won two American Football League (AFL) championships, in 1964 and 1965. They played in the first AFL–National Football League Championship Game (Super Bowl I), but lost to the Green Bay Packers by a score of 35–10. Since reaching the Super Bowl in 1992, the Bills have only reached the playoffs once, during the 1998 season, in which they lost to the Tennessee Titans in the Wild Card round. The team has struggled mightily since then, compiling a record of 17–31 (.354) from 1999 to 2010, including an 0–8 record during the 2008 season—the worst regular season record ever posted by an NFL team that qualified for postseason play that year—and missing the playoffs for eleven consecutive seasons.
The Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings joined the National Football League (NFL) as an expansion team in 1960, and first took the field for the 1961 season. The team competes in the National Football Conference (NFC) North division.
