Which NFL Teams Haven’t Won a Super Bowl?

We all know the teams that have won Super Bowls, but which ones haven’t? Here’s a look at the NFL teams that are still waiting for their first Lombardi Trophy.

Introduction

The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league. It was founded in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association (APFA) before renaming itself the National Football League for the 1922 season. The NFL agreed to merge with the American Football League (AFL) in 1966, and the first Super Bowl was held at the end of that season; the merger was completed in 1970. Today, the NFL has the highest average attendance (67,591) of any professional sports league in the world and is the most popular sports league in the United States.

The Teams

There are a total of thirteen NFL teams who have never won a Super Bowl. This includes the teams who have never even made it to the big game. Let’s take a look at the teams, their home cities, and when they were founded.

Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals have never won a Super Bowl. They’ve been to the big game twice, but lost both times. The first time was in 2009 when they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-23. The second time was in 2008 when they lost to the New York Giants 17-14.

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have not won a Super Bowl in their entire history.

Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are a professional American football team based in Houston, Texas. The Texans compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) South division. The team plays its home games at NRG Stadium in Houston’s Reliant Park complex. The Texans have won only two division championships (in 2011 and 2012) since their founding and have never played in a conference championship game.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional football franchise based in Jacksonville, Florida. The Jaguars compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) South division. The team plays its home games at TIAA Bank Field.

Los Angeles Chargers

Super Bowls are the biggest annual event in American football. They are the most-watched American television broadcast and has become one of the biggest social events of the year. The game itself is an extravaganza, with a week of hype leading up to it, and millions of dollars spent on advertising by the companies that air it.

The Super Bowl is also a very big day for betting, with people wagering on everything from the coin toss to the final score. And, of course, which team will win. In recent years, there have been some major upsets, with underdogs like the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots winning against all odds.

But there are still a few teams that have never won a Super Bowl. As of 2019, these are the teams that have yet to hoist the Lombardi trophy:

-Los Angeles Chargers
-Minnesota Vikings
-Buffalo Bills
-Cleveland Browns
-Tennessee Titans

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team that plays in the National Football League (NFL). The Rams compete in the NFL’s National Football Conference (NFC) West division. The franchise began in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams in the short-lived second American Football League before joining the NFL the next year. In 1946, the franchise moved to Los Angeles. The Rams franchise remained in the metro area until 1994, when they moved to St. Louis, and were known as the St. Louis Rams from 1995 until their move back to Los Angeles in 2016.

The Rams franchise has won three NFL championships, and is the only franchise to win championships while representing three different cities (Cleveland, Los Angeles, and St. Louis). The franchise has captured 15 divisional titles and three conference championships.

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings joined the National Football League (NFL) as an expansion team in 1960, and first took the field for the 1961 season. The team competes in the National Football Conference (NFC) North division.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division.

The Saints were founded by John W. Mecom Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans on November 1, 1966. The NFL granted the expansion franchise on that date, which was awarded to New Orleans upon making a formal presentation to league commissioners three months earlier on August 1.

The team’s primary colors are old gold and black; their logo is a simplified fleur-de-lis. They played their home games in Tulane Stadium through the 1974 NFL season. The following year, they moved to the new Louisiana Superdome (now known as Mercedes-Benz Superdome). For most of their first 20 years, the Saints were barely competitive, only getting to .500 twice. In 1987, they finished 12–3—their first-ever winning season—and qualified for the NFL playoffs for the first time in franchise history.[5] In 1988, behind quarterback Bobby Hebert and running back Dalton Hilliard, the team posted an 11–5 record and advanced to the NFC Divisional Playoffs.[6][7] In 2007, Reggie Bush won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors; he was traded away from New Orleans following that season.

In 2010 Drew Brees became the first ever quarterback to lead an offense to touchdown passes in every game of an NFL season en route to 5Qualifying for Super Bowl XLIV and ultimately defeating Peyton Manning’s Indianapolis Colts 31–17 for their lone championship in franchise history.[8][9] To date neither Brees nor any other member of that 2010 Saints have been elected into Canton Ohio’s Professional Football Hall of Fame despite having one of if not THE best statistical careers for ANY player at his position over such a long period of time

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles are a professional American football team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Eagles compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. They are Super Bowl champions, having won Super Bowl LII.

They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) West division. Since 1988, the 49ers have been headquartered in Santa Clara.

Puget Sound Business Journal (PSBJ) is the official publication of record for the Seattle Seahawks business operations.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional American football franchise based in Tampa, Florida. The Buccaneers currently compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member team of the National Football Conference (NFC) South division. Along with the Seattle Seahawks, the team joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team. The Bucs played their first season in the American Football Conference (AFC) West division as part of an agreement between the two newly minted franchises. After one season in that conference, the club switched conferences with the Seahawks and became a member of the NFC.
