AFC
The Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, New England Patriots, and Kansas City Chiefs have clinched the AFC’s four divisional titles. The Ravens and Texans clinched the AFC North and AFC South, respectively, while the Patriots and Chiefs clinched the AFC East and AFC West.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Ravens were established in 1996, when Art Modell, who was then the owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced plans to relocate the franchise from Cleveland to Baltimore in 1995. As part of a settlement between Modell, the city of Cleveland, and the other NFL teams, Modell was required to leave the Browns’ history and records in Cleveland for a replacement team and replacement personnel that would take control in 1999. In return, he was allowed to take his own personnel and team to Baltimore, where such personnel would then form an expansion team. The Ravens organization has been led by general manager Ozzie Newsome since 1996
Buffalo Bills
The Bills qualified for the playoffs for the second consecutive season and the third time in four years. They also managed to win a playoff game for the first time since 1995.
Houston Texans
The Houston Texans are a professional football team based in Houston, Texas. They are members of the South Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Texans began play in 2002 as an expansion team after Houston’s previous franchise, the Houston Oilers, relocated to Nashville, Tennessee (and subsequently became the Tennessee Titans). The team played its home games at Reliant Stadium from 2002 to 2019, and moved to NRG Stadium (also in Houston) beginning with the 2020 season.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division.
The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team moved to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion. Hunt’s son, Clark, serves as chairman and CEO. While Hunt’s granddaughter, Amelia Earhart, serves as president.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is located 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.
The Patriots are also headquartered at Gillette Stadium. An original member of the American Football League (AFL), the Patriots joined the NFL in the 1970 merger of the two leagues. The team changed its name from the original Boston Patriots after relocating to Foxborough in 1971. The Patriots played their home games at Foxboro Stadium from 1971 to 2001, then moved to Gillette Stadium at the start of 2002.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Steelers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. They are the reigning world champions, having won Super Bowl XLIII, and have an AFC-best 16 franchise Super Bowl titles. The Steelers have played their home games in Heinz Field on Pittsburgh’s North Side since 2001.
NFC
The NFC playoff teams are the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most popular NFL teams. They have a long history of success, winning five Super Bowls. The Cowboys made the playoffs in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers finished the regular season with a 13-3 record, earning the NFC’s No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the playoffs. The Packers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 28-23 in the Divisional Round and will face the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Sunday, January 19.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team that compete in the National Football League (NFL). The Rams franchise was founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams in the short-lived second American Football League before joining the NFL the next year. In 1946, the franchise moved to Los Angeles. The Rams franchise remained in the metro area until 1994, when they moved to St. Louis, and were known as the St. Louis Rams from 1995 to 2015. The Rams franchise returned to Los Angeles in 2016.
The Los Angeles Rams made the playoffs in 2018 and 2019, but did not make it past the Wild Card round.
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings joined the National Football League (NFL) as an expansion team in 1960, and first took the field for the 1961 season. The team competes in the National Football Conference (NFC) North division.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division. Founded by John W. Mecom Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans on November 1, 1966, the Saints began play in Tulane Stadium in 1967. The name “Saints” is an allusion to November 1 being All Saints Day in the Catholic faith.[5][6]
The franchise was founded on November 1, 1966.[7] The team’s primary colors are old gold and black,[8] their logo is a simplified fleur-de-lis,[9] and their official mascot is Gumbo the dog.[10][11] They played their home games at Tulane Stadium through 1974,[12] and moved to the new Louisiana Superdome (now Mercedes-Benz Superdome) for the 1975 season.[13][14]
The franchise won its first NFL championship in Super Bowl XLIV when they defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31–17 on February 7, 2010.
Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football franchise based in Seattle, Washington. The Seahawks compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) West division. They joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
