Which NFL Teams Have Never Won a Super Bowl?
It’s hard to believe but there are still four NFL teams who have never won a Super Bowl. Find out which teams they are.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional American football franchise based in Tampa, Florida. The Buccaneers currently compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member team of the National Football Conference (NFC) South division. Along with the Seattle Seahawks, the team joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team. The Bucs played their first season in the American Football Conference (AFC) West division as part of an NFL realignment plan that took effect that year. After the season, the club switched conferences with the Seahawks and became a member of the NFC Central division. During the 2002 league realignment, the Bucs joined three former NFC West teams to form the NFC South. The club is owned by Jason Licht since 2014 and play their home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are a professional American football team based in Detroit, Michigan. They are members of the North Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Lions have not won a Super Bowl.
Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns are a professional American football team based in Cleveland, Ohio. The Browns compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Browns play their home games at FirstEnergy Stadium, which opened in 1999, with administrative offices and training facilities in Berea, Ohio. The Browns’ official colors are brown, orange and white. They are unique among the 32 member franchises of the NFL in that they do not have a logo on their helmets.
The franchise was founded in 1945 by businessman Arthur B. McBride and coach Paul Brown as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). The Browns dominated the AAFC, compiling a 47–4–3 record in the league’s four seasons and winning its championship in each of them. When the AAFC folded after the 1949 season, the Browns joined the National Football League along with three other AAFC teams, the San Francisco 49ers,the original Baltimore Coltsandthe New York Yankees. The Browns won a championship in their inaugural NFL season, as well as in 1964 and 1965.
Since resuming operations in 1999 after a three-year hiatus brought about by Art Modell’s relocation of the team to Baltimore (which resulted in the formation of an expansion franchise also named the Baltimore Ravens),the Browns have struggled to find success. They have had only two winning seasons (in 2002 and 2007), one playoff appearance (in 2002), and no playoff wins. The franchise has also been noted for a lack of stability with quarterbacks, having started 30 different players at the position since 1999. Through 64 seasons, they have compiled an all-time record of 406 win–loss–tie (.402 winning percentage).
Houston Texans
The Houston Texans are a professional American football team based in Houston, Texas. The Texans compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) South division. The team plays its home games at NRG Stadium.
The Texans have not appeared in a Super Bowl in their franchise history. They are one of twelve NFL teams to have never won the Super Bowl and one of ten to have never appeared in it.
