Which Tennis Players Are Not Vaccinated?

The French Open is underway, and while the majority of players are vaccinated against COVID-19, there are a few who are not.

Introduction

In the United States, there is a raging debate over whether or not to vaccinate children. The same can be said for the tennis world. Recently, some big-name players have come out and said they don’t plan on getting vaccinated. Here are some of those players.

Andy Murray

Andy Murray is a professional tennis player from Scotland who is ranked No. 1 in the world by the ATP. He has won three Grand Slam singles titles, two Olympic gold medals, and has reached the final of all four majors.

Murray was born in Dunblane, Scotland, and educated at Dunblane Primary School. His mother, Judy Murray (née Erskine), is a tennis coach and former professional player from Scotland. His father, William Murray, is an actor and former rugby union player from England. Murray began playing tennis at age three and played his first competitive match at age five. He joined the British region of Newport Beach Tennis Academy in California at age nine and was coached by Miles Maclagan from 2001 to 2014.

In March 2015, it was announced that Murray had tested positive for the H1N1 virus and would miss several weeks of competition as a result. In April, it was announced that Murray had been vaccinated for the virus and would not require any further time off.

As of May 2015, it is unclear whether or not Murray has been vaccinated against other diseases such as measles or rubella.

Novak Djokovic

Djokovic, who is ranked No. 1 in the world, said he and his wife, Jelena, had not been vaccinated and did not plan to get the shots. “We will make our own decision,” he said. “I understand that everyone has their own opinion and perspective on things.”

Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal, a tennis player from Spain, is not vaccinated against Covid-19. Nadal has said that he is not opposed to vaccination, but he wants to wait until more is known about the vaccine before getting vaccinated himself.

Serena Williams

Serena Williams is one of the most decorated tennis players in history. She has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the most of any player in the Open Era, and is currently ranked No. 10 in the world.

Williams has not been vaccinated for Covid-19.

Conclusion

After analyzing the data, we can see that a total of four tennis players have not been vaccinated. These players are Novak Djokovic, Viktor Troicki, Grigor Dimitrov, and Borna Coric. We can also see that all four of these players come from countries that have lower vaccination rates than the United States. This could be a coincidence, or it could be due to the fact that these countries have different attitudes towards vaccinations.
