They will face the Houston Texans in the first round. The Texans are a dangerous team, but the Chiefs are the clear favorite.

The National Football Conference (NFC) playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the National Football League (NFL)’s regular season to determine the NFL conference champion. Six teams from each conference qualify for the playoffs based on regular season records, and a tie-breaking procedure exists in the case of equal records. The procedure is as follows:

If two or more clubs are tied in won-lost-tied percentage, they shall be ranked in order of net points scored for the entire regular season;

If two or more clubs remain tied after any other Club has been eliminated during any step, ties shall be broken by strength-of-schedule. If a Club’s strength-of-schedule is identical to that of one or more other Clubs, it shall compare records with those Clubs in order of won-lost-tied percentage;

If two or more clubs remain tied after any other Club has been eliminated during any step, ties shall be broken by best won-lost-tied percentage in common games;

If two or more clubs remain tied after any other Club has been eliminated during any step, ties shall be broken by head-to-head matchups if only one game has been played between the Clubs during that season. If multiple games have been played between the Clubs during that season, it shall use best won-lost-tied percentage;

If two or more clubs have finished with identical won/lost/tied percentages, and all such Clubs have identical won/lost/tied percentages against common opponents among all such Clubs and all such Clubs have identical strength of schedule percentages for all remaining games: Club A will be the higher seed.

OR

If three or more clubs have finished with identical won/lost/tied percentages, and all such Clubs have identical won/lost/tied percentages against common opponents among all such Clubs and one Club had a winning record against all other Clubs with identical won/lost/tied percentages, that Club will be declared the higher seed.

OR

If three or more clubs have finished with identical won/lost/tied percentages, and all such teams have identical won_lost_tied percentages against common opponents among all such teams and each team had a different winning percentage (rounding off to next highest 1⁄16th) when pitted against every other member of their own divisional team(s), Petit Ranked will seed those teams in order so as to give them ranking priority for future selection rounds.
