The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is located 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.
The Patriots are also headquartered at Gillette Stadium. An original member of the American Football League (AFL), the Patriots joined the NFL in 1970 as part of the AFL–NFL merger. The team changed its name from the original Boston Patriots after relocating to Foxborough in 1971. The Patriots played their home games at Foxboro Stadium from 1971 to 2001, then moved to Gillette Stadium at the start of 2002 season.
The Patriots’ rivalry with the New York Jets is considered one of the most bitter rivalries in the NFL. Since 2001, when Bill Belichick and Tom Brady took charge of the team, they have combined for 19 division championships (including an NFL-record 10 consecutive seasons from 2009 to 2018), 14 AFC championships (including an NFL-record 10 consecutive seasons from 2011 to 2020), and six Super Bowl appearances (winning four). They are tied with Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos for second most Super Bowl wins by a head coach–quarterback tandem with four each; only Chuck Noll and Terry Bradshaw have more Super Bowl wins with six each. Belichick has won a record seven Super Bowls as a head coach, while Brady has won five – both records for any head coach–quarterback tandem in NFL history.

The New York Jets are a professional American football team based in the New York metropolitan area. The Jets compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team is headquartered in Florham Park, New Jersey. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest franchise in the AFC.
The team play their home games at Heinz Field on Pittsburgh’s North Side in the North Shore neighborhood, which also hosts the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. The Steelers have won more Super Bowl titles (six), AFC championships (eight), and hosted more conference championship games (11) than any other NFL team. The Steelers have won 6 AFC titles, 8 divisional titles, and 23 playoff appearances. They are tied with the New England Patriots for the most conference titles since the 1970 AFL–NFL merger with six apiece.
The Steelers began play as one of three expansion teams that joined the NFL for its 1933 season; they were created to replace the bankrupt Portsmouth Spartans, which had previously competed in 1932 as an independent team. Art Rooney Sr., bought the team for $2,500 ($41,737 today). In contrast with their expansion cousins Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears, who gave players $500 to report for training camp ($8,693 today), Rooney promised his players nothing but $5 each week if they made his roster—equivalent to $89 today. Rooney’s franchise was named after founders-to-be Art Rooney Sr.’s favorite college football team from Fordham University—”The Pittsburg(h) Panthers”. His primary purpose for creating a professional football teams was to generate additional income for himself by organizing “exhibition” games against NFL teams that traveled to Pennsylvania to conduct summer training camp practices and scrimmages against one another as practice preparation for their regular season contests.[41][42] The exhibition contests were popular attractions and served as an enticement for people living outside of Pennsylvania—namely Western New Yorkers—to visit his gambling parlors when taking trips down into Pennsylvania from Buffalo and Niagara Falls during those hot summer months.[43]
NFC playoff teams
The Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks clinched NFC playoff berths in Week 16. The NFC playoff field is set. Here’s a look at the teams that will be competing for the conference title.

The Cardinals compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the National Football Conference (NFC) West division. Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons had an impressive season, finishing with a record of 11-5. They were led by their strong defense, which was ranked #2 in the NFL. Their offense was also potent, ranked #5 in the league.
The Falcons will be looking to make a deep run in the playoffs and will be a tough out for any team they face.
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Panthers compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The team plays its home games at Bank of America Stadium in uptown Charlotte. They are one of the few NFL teams to own the stadium they play their home games in. The Panthers are supported throughout the Carolinas; fans and media reside throughout the United States and Canada.
The Carolina Panthers joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1995, and played their first regular-season game in 1996. They did not win their first game until 1997, when they beat the New York Jets 29–15 at Giants Stadium. Since joining the league, the Panthers have reached seven playoff seasons, twice advancing to conference championships and Super Bowl XXXVIII during the 2003 season. Success has been hard to come by for most of their history since then; Carolina has only published a winning record once since 2009, which came during their 2015 season when they went 15–1 en route to an NFC championship and a berth in Super Bowl 50, where they lost to the Denver Broncos 24–10.
Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team based in Chicago, Illinois. The Bears compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. The Bears have also recorded more victories than any other NFL franchise.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are a professional American football team based in Detroit, Michigan. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. Richards, they became the Detroit Lions on September 24, 1957.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers are one of four teams that have qualified for the playoffs in each of the last six seasons, joining the Patriots, Seahawks, and Panthers. They are also one of only two teams (joining the Steelers) to have made it to the playoffs in eight of the last ten seasons.
In 2021, the Packers will once again be led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is coming off another MVP-caliber season in which he threw for 4,299 yards and 48 touchdowns with only five interceptions. The Packers will also have a new head coach in Matt LaFleur, who was hired after Mike McCarthy was fired following the 2018 season.
As far as NFC playoff teams go, the Packers are always a contenders and should once again be in the mix in 2021.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team that compete in the National Football League (NFL). The Rams franchise was founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams in the short-lived second American Football League (AFL) before joining the NFL the next year. In 1946, the franchise moved to Los Angeles. The Rams franchise remained in the metro area until 1994, when they moved to Anaheim. The Rams franchise returned to Los Angeles in 2016.
The Rams organization has won three NFL championships, and is the only one to win championships representing three cities (Cleveland in 1945, Los Angeles in 1951, and St. Louis in 1999). The Rams have been featured in two Super Bowls, winning one (XXXIV).
