Who Are The Best NFL Rookies This Year?

The NFL season is just around the corner, and that means it’s time to start thinking about which rookies will make the biggest impact. Who are the best NFL rookies this year?

QB’s

Quarterbacks always seem to get all of the glory in the NFL. It is the most important position on the field and usually the face of the franchise. This year there are a few QB’s that look like they could be the next big thing.

Kyler Murray- Arizona Cardinals

Kyler Murray was the number one overall pick in this year’s NFL draft. He is a dual-threat quarterback, meaning he can run and pass the ball effectively. Murray is extremely fast, and his arm strength is above average. He is also accurate, and has good vision. Murray will likely be the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals this season.

Daniel Jones- New York Giants

The New York Giants made Daniel Jones the 6th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and he is expected to be the franchise quarterback for years to come. Daniel Jones played his college ball at Duke and was one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the country. He also has good mobility for a quarterback his size and can extend plays with his feet. The biggest knock on Daniel Jones is that he played in a Spread offense in college and will need to adjust to playing under center in the NFL.

Dwayne Haskins- Washington Redskins

Dwayne Haskins was born in New Jersey to a father who played football at Howard University and a mother who was a cheerleader at Rutgers University. He began playing football when he was five years old. As a three-star recruit, he committed to Ohio State University to play college football. Haskins was named the starting quarterback for the 2018 season after J. T. Barrett graduated. He led Ohio State to an undefeated regular season and a Big Ten Championship. Haskins also set the single-season passing touchdown record for Ohio State with fifty-three touchdowns. He decided to forgo his senior year and declare himself eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft. The Washington Redskins selected him in the first round with the fifteenth overall pick.

RB’s

Running backs are some of the most versatile players in the NFL. They can run the ball, catch the ball out of the backfield, and block for their teammates. This year, there are several talented running backs who are ready to make an impact in the NFL. Here are the best NFL rookies this year.

Josh Jacobs- Oakland Raiders

Jacobs was drafted by the Raiders with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He was the first running back to be selected in the draft. In his rookie season, Jacobs started all 16 games and rushed for 1,150 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had 20 receptions for 166 yards. Jacobs was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and was a Pro Bowl selection.

Miles Sanders- Philadelphia Eagles

Miles Sanders was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round (53rd overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played college football at Penn State.

As a rookie in 2019, Sanders rushed for 818 yards and three touchdowns on 179 carries and caught 36 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown.

David Montgomery- Chicago Bears

David Montgomery was selected by the Chicago Bears with the 73rd pick in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL draft. Standing at 5 feet 10 inches and weighing 222 pounds, Montgomery is a physical and shifty running back who excelled in college. In his three years at Iowa State, Montgomery racked up 3,146 yards and 28 touchdowns on the ground. He also had 1,352 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns.

WR’s

This year’s NFL Draft brought in a number of talented rookies, including some wide receivers who are sure to make an impact on the league. One of these rookies is Jerry Jeudy, who was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round. Jeudy was widely considered to be the best receiver in the draft, and he has the potential to be a star in the NFL. Brown is a wide receiver from Oklahoma, and he is known for his speed and elusiveness. He is expected to be a big playmaker for the Ravens this season, and he could quickly become one of quarterback Lamar Jackson’s favorite targets.

A.J. Brown- Tennessee Titans

He also rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns, and returned 18 kicks for 462 yards and a touchdown. His play helped the 49ers reach the Super Bowl, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.

TE’s

Noah Fant- Denver Broncos

Fant was the first tight end off the board in this year’s NFL draft, going 20th overall to the Broncos. He should be an immediate contributor in Denver’s offense, especially in the red zone. At 6-foot-4 and 249 pounds, Fant has the size to be a dominant presence in the passing game, and he also has the speed to take the top off defenses. He ran a 4.50-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, and he had a 37-inch vertical jump. Fant had 39 receptions for 519 yards and seven touchdowns last season as a junior at Iowa.

T.J. Hockenson- Detroit Lions

T.J. Hockenson was the 8th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. The Iowa product was one of the most productive tight ends in all of college football last season. Hockenson had 49 catches for 760 yards and 6 touchdowns in just his junior year. He is a big, physical presence at 6’5″ 250 pounds and is a very good route runner with great hands. The Lions are hoping that he can be a weapon for quarterback Matthew Stafford right away and help take some pressure off of star wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr.

Jace Sternberger- Green Bay Packers

Sternberger, a third-round pick out of Texas A&M, has the potential to be a star in the Packers’ offense. He’s a big, athletic target who can make plays in the middle of the field and in the red zone. He should be a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers, and he could have a breakout season in 2019.
