Who are the best quarterbacks in NFL history? This is a question that has been debated for years, and there are a number of different ways to answer it. In this blog post, we’ll take a look at some of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, and try to come to a definitive answer.
Pre-1970
Bart Starr, Quarterback for the Green Bay Packers from 1956 to 1971, is the only player to have won five NFL championships. He was named MVP of the first two Super Bowls. Starr was a seventeen-time Pro Bowl selection and holds the record for the highest passer rating in a season.
Sammy Baugh
Few athletes can match the versatility of Sammy Baugh. He was an All-American quarterback at TCU and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also played professional baseball and was an excellent punter. But it was on the gridiron where Baugh made his mark, leading the Washington Redskins to two NFL championships in 1937 and 1942. He was named NFL MVP in 1947 and was selected to six Pro Bowls.
Otto Graham
Otto Graham is a No. 4 seed in the NFL’s all-time greatest quarterback bracket. (Pre-1970 quarterbacks were not judged against each other because the game was so different back then.) The two-time NFL MVP and Hall of Famer led the Browns to 10 title game appearances in 10 years, winning seven. He is the only quarterback in NFL history to average more than 30 points per game for his career, and he did it in an era when offenses were much less sophisticated and passing was not nearly as prevalent as it is today.
Sid Luckman
Sidney “Sid” Luckman (November 21, 1916 – July 5, 1998) was an American football quarterback for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL) from 1939 to 1950. During his 12 seasons with the Bears he led them to four NFL championships (1940, 1941, 1943, 1946).

In the past decade, the NFL has seen some of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. From Tom Brady to Drew Brees, these quarterbacks have set records and led their teams to victory. But who is the best quarterback of this decade? Let’s take a look.
Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers is widely considered one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. He has led the Green Bay Packers to a Super Bowl title and has been named the NFL MVP twice. He is also a six-time Pro Bowl selection.
Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson is an American football quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Seahawks in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Wilson played college football for the University of Wisconsin during the 2011 season, in which he set the single-season FBS record for passing efficiency (191.8) and led the team to a Big Ten title and the 2012 Rose Bowl.
Wilson has won several awards, including being named Super Bowl XLVIII’s Most Valuable Player after leading the Seahawks to their first ever Super Bowl victory, as well as winning Super Bowl XLIX’s Pete Rozelle Trophy for being that game’s MVP. He has also been named to three Pro Bowls in his first four seasons (2013–2016). Ben Roethlisberger
At 6’5” and 240 pounds, Ben Roethlisberger is a big quarterback. He also has a big arm, which allows him to make all the throws necessary to be successful in the NFL. Big Ben also has great mobility for a man his size, which makes him very difficult to sack. In his career, he’s been sacked an average of only 2.4 times per game, which is very good for a quarterback who drops back to pass as much as he does.
