Who Are The Best Quarterbacks In The NFL?
Contents
We all know that there are a lot of great quarterbacks in the NFL. But who are the best of the best? Here’s a look at the top five quarterbacks in the league right now.
Tom Brady
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.
The Patriots are also headquartered at Gillette Stadium. An ownership group led by Robert Kraft purchased the team in 1994 for $172 million. The franchise began play in the AFL in 1960 as the Boston Patriots, joined the NFL in 1970 after the AFL–NFL merger, and adopted its current name in 1971. The team is also nicknamed “The Pats”, “The Boys”, or “The Men of Foxborough”.
The Pats have appeared in eleven Super Bowls since 1986 (tied for first all time), winning six of them—an NFL record for most Super Bowl victories by a single franchise. They have won ten conference championships, including seven AFC Championships—the most AFC titles by any team since 2002. They are also one of only two teams to win five Super Bowls within a single decade (the other being the San Francisco 49ers—1970s).
Tom Brady has been with the Patriots since he was drafted in 2000 out of Michigan. He is considered one of, if not THE greatest quarterback to ever play the game. He has led the Patriots to 9 Super Bowls, winning 7 of them – more than any other quarterback in NFL history.
Stats
Some people think that Tom Brady is the best quarterback in the NFL, but his stats don’t always back that up. In fact, in some key areas, he’s actually below average.
For example, Brady’s career passer rating is only 95.7. That’s not bad, but it’s not great, either. And it’s even worse when you compare him to other quarterbacks who have played in the NFL over the past few years. In 2016, for instance, there were 11 quarterbacks who had a higher passer rating than Brady did.
Brady also doesn’t stand out when it comes to yards per attempt. His career average of 7.3 yards per attempt is good but not great. And again, there are plenty of other quarterbacks who have been better in this area over the past few years. In 2016, for instance, there were eight quarterbacks who averaged more yards per attempt than Brady did.
So while Tom Brady is a good quarterback, he’s not necessarily the best quarterback in the NFL.
Drew Brees
When it comes to the best quarterbacks in the NFL, the name that usually comes to mind is Drew Brees. Brees has been a top quarterback in the league for many years and shows no signs of slowing down. He is a great leader and has a strong arm. In addition, Brees is accurate and makes good decisions.
