Who Are The NFL Wild Card Teams?

The NFL Wild Card teams are the four teams that make the playoffs each year but are not seeded in the top two spots. These teams must play each other in the first round of the playoffs.

Who Are The NFL Wild Card Teams?

The AFC

The AFC has 6 wild card teams: the Baltimore Ravens, the Indianapolis Colts, the Los Angeles Chargers, the Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Ravens were established in 1996, when Art Modell, who was then the owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced plans to relocate the franchise to Baltimore in 1995. As part of a settlement between Modell and the city of Cleveland, the Browns’ intellectual property, including team name, logos, training facility, and history, were kept in trust and the franchise was regarded by the NFL as suspended. The Ravens became the second franchise to begin play (after Jacksonville) in 1996 after being approved by league owners on October 24, 1995.

The Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are looking to make a deep run in the playoffs this year after winning the AFC South for the second consecutive season. Led by quarterback Deshaun Watson, the Texans have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL. They will be a tough out for any team in the playoffs.

The Texans will be looking to avenger their loss to the Indianapolis Colts in last year’s Wild Card round. They will have their work cut out for them, as they are slated to face the winner of the AFC West, which is currently one of the most competitive divisions in football. Whoever emerges from that division will be a formidable opponent.

Get your popcorn ready, because the Houston Texans are sure to put on a show in the playoffs this year!

The Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts are a professional American football team based in Indianapolis, Indiana. They are members of the South Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Colts have won two Super Bowls (XLI and XLI), while their franchise has been a member of the NFL since 1953.

The Colts were founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1953 as the Baltimore Colts. They moved to Indianapolis following the 1983 season. Since relocating to Indianapolis, the team has been a member of the AFC South, winning division championships in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009. The Colts have nine NFL Playoff appearances since moving to Indianapolis in 1984—an AFC-best for teams who have relocate

The Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are a professional American football team based in the Greater Los Angeles Area. The Chargers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded on August 14, 1959, and began play on September 10, 1960, as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL).

The Chargers joined the NFL as result of the AFL–NFL merger in 1970, and played their home games at San Diego Stadium until 2017. They moved to StubHub Center in Carson, California, that year and finished 9-7. The Chargers have one AFL championship (1963) to their credit and reached the AFC Championship Game once (1994). They play their home games at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, which they shared with the Rams from 2020 until 2021.

The NFC

The New Orleans Saints are the NFC’s first wild card team. They are currently 10-4 and are coming off a big win against the Carolina Panthers. The Saints have a very balanced offense and are led by quarterback Drew Brees. The Saints have a good chance to make a run in the playoffs.

The Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are one of the four teams in the National Football Conference (NFC) that will be playing in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. The other three teams are the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, and Minnesota Vikings.

The Bears finished the regular season with a record of 12-4, which was good enough for second place in the NFC North behind the Green Bay Packers. They lost to the Packers in Week 17, which prevented them from winning the division and getting a first-round bye in the playoffs.

Despite not getting a bye, the Bears are still one of the better teams in the NFC and will be a tough opponent for whoever they face in the Wild Card round. Their defense is one of the best in the league, and they have a good mix of young and experienced players on offense.

The Bears will most likely be facing either the Seahawks or Vikings in the Wild Card round. If they win that game, they would then likely have to face either the New Orleans Saints or Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional round.

The Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. They are headquartered in Frisco, Texas, and play their home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which opened for the 2009 season. The stadium took the place of the Cotton Bowl as the Cowboys’ home stadium. The team’s headquarters and practice facilities are also at The Star in Frisco.

The Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football team based in Seattle, Washington. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) West division. The Seahawks joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Seahawks are owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen and are currently coached by Pete Carroll. Since 2002, the Seahawks have played their home games at CenturyLink Field, located south of downtown Seattle. They previously played home games in the Kingdome (1976–1999) and Husky Stadium (1994, 2000–2001).

Seattle is one of three professional teams based in the state of Washington, joining Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Seattle Mariners and the Women’s National Basketball Association’s (WNBA) Seattle Storm.

The Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles are a professional American football team based in Philadelphia. They are members of the East Division of the National Football Conference (NFC). The Eagles have won three NFL championships, and have made appearances in two Super Bowls, winning one.
