Since the National Football League (NFL) began in 192, there have been a total of 738 NFL draft picks. These are the top 10 NFL draft picks of all time:

1) quarterback Peyton Manning, who was drafted first overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 1998;

2) defensive end Bruce Smith, who was drafted first overall by the Buffalo Bills in 1985;

3) running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who was drafted fifth overall by the San Diego Chargers in 2001;

4) wide receiver Jerry Rice, who was drafted 16th overall by the San Francisco 49ers in 1985;

5) offensive tackle Anthony Muñoz, who was drafted third overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1980;

6) quarterback John Elway, who was drafted first overall by the Baltimore Colts in 1983;

7) defensive tackle Reggie White, who was drafted fourth overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1985;

8 ) linebacker Lawrence Taylor, who was drafted second overall by the New York Giants in 1981 ; and finally defensive end Deacon Jones, who was drafted 14th overall by the Los Angeles Rams in 1961.

Quarterbacks

The quarterbacks who are expected to go early in the NFL draft are Jared Goff of California, Paxton Lynch of Memphis, Carson Wentz of North Dakota State, and Connor Cook of Michigan State. Winston is still just 25 years old, so he has time to turn things around, but he’ll need to show marked improvement in 2019 if he wants to remain the Bucs’ starting quarterback.

2. Marcus Mariota, QB, Tennessee Titans: Mariota was the second overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft, and he’s been a solid starter for the Titans over the past four seasons. He’s thrown for more than 3,500 yards in each of the past three seasons, and he’s also added 24 touchdown passes in each of those campaigns. Mariota is entering the final year of his rookie contract, so he’ll need to have a strong season if he wants to cash in on a big free-agent deal next offseason.

3. Amari Cooper, WR, Dallas Cowboys: Cooper was the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft, and he’s been one of the best receivers in football over the past two seasons. He caught 83 passes for 1,153 yards and five touchdowns last season, and he should put up similar numbers in 2019 as Dak Prescott’s top target in Dallas’ offense.

4. Todd Gurley, RB, Los Angeles Rams: Gurley was the 10th overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft, and he’s been one of the best running backs in football over the past three seasons. He ran for 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns last season while adding another 788 yards and six touchdowns through the air. Gurley is entering the final year of his rookie contract, so he’ll be looking to prove that he’s still worth a big payday next offseason despite concerns about his knee injury from last year.
