Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. It is the third-oldest franchise in the NFL, dating back to 1919, and is the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team based in the United States. Home games have been played at Lambeau Field since 1957.

The Packers are the last of the “small town teams” which were common in the NFL during the league’s early days of 1920–1930. Founded in August 1919 by George Whitney Calhoun, Curly Lambeau, and George Strickler under the name of the Green Bay Athletic Association, they joined the American Professional Football Association (now NFL) on August 27, 1921. The club was renamed to Green Bay Packers, Inc. in 1922 after Calhoun sold his ownership stake to Lambeau for $500. In 1961, they became a publicly owned corporation with 410 stockholders selling $5 shares giving 576,000 people co-ownership of the franchise; this arrangement protected Vince Lombardi’s coaching tenure from 1962 to 1968 against distrustful members of management and shareholders who constantly meddled with team decisions as it related to personnel and game strategies during that era despite Lombardi’s unprecedented success on and off field winning five NFL Championships including Super Bowls I and II which resulted in two dynasty teams recognized as not only one of football’s greatest teams ever assembled but also one of sports greatest teams ever assembled as well.

In addition to 13 NFL Championships (the most in NFL history), which includes nine pre-Super Bowl NFL titles (the most in NFL history), they have won four Super Bowls (the most by any team in NFL history), all under Hall of Fame head coach Vince Lombardi; they are also the only team to have won more than one Super Bowl while being coached by Lombardi; they have appeared in more Super Bowls than any other team (five total), and have an overall playoff record of 33 wins and 26 losses (a .559 winning percentage).

At age 14, Wilson attended Harrison B. Woodson High School in Fort Washington, Maryland.[18][19] Playing quarterback for Woodson’s team,[20] he completed 96 of 163 passes for 1,546 yards with 13 touchdowns and three interceptions en route to being named honorable mention All-Metropolitan by The Washington Post.[21][22]
