NFL Career
Brian Griese played quarterback for the National Football League for fourteen seasons. He played college football for the University of Michigan, where he was a two-time All-American. Griese was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He also played for the Miami Dolphins, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Chicago Bears.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1998-2000)
Brian Griese played three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1998 to 2000. He was drafted by the Buccaneers in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft. As a rookie, Griese started four games and threw for 1,358 yards with eight touchdowns and six interceptions.
In 1999, Griese started all 16 games for the Buccaneers and threw for 3,154 yards with 19 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions. He helped lead the Buccaneers to an NFC Central division title that year.
Griese’s best season came in 2000 when he started 15 games and threw for 3,717 yards with 29 touchdown passes and just seven interceptions. Denver Broncos (2000-2002)
Griese was originally drafted by the Broncos in the 3rd round (91st overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft. He became the starting quarterback in his second season after John Elway retired. Griese helped lead the Broncos to an 8-8 record and a wild card playoff berth in his first season as a starter. In 2001, Griese threw for 3,032 yards and 17 touchdowns as the Broncos finished second in the AFC West with a 10-6 record. They advanced to the Divisional Round of the playoffs, where they lost to eventual Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. In 2002, Griese was named to the Pro Bowl after throwing for 2,688 yards and 18 touchdowns as the Broncos won their second consecutive AFC West title with a 9-7 record. They were again defeated by the Patriots in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
Miami Dolphins (2003-2007)
Brian Griese played quarterback for the Miami Dolphins from 2003 to 2007. He was drafted by the Dolphins in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. Griese started 45 games for the Dolphins, throwing for 11,436 yards and 69 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2000 and helped lead the Dolphins to the playoffs in 2000 and 2001.
College Career

Griese was co-MVP of the 1997 Rose Bowl, where he set an Rose Bowl record with four touchdown passes (including three to Tai Streets) as Michigan downed Washington State 21-16. In that game, he also completed 28 of his 38 passes for 251 yards, another Rose Bowl record at the time. Griese was inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame on December 31, 2012.
