Indianapolis Colts (2002-2008)
Tony Dungy was hired by the Indianapolis Colts in 2002, and took over a team that had gone 6-10 the previous year. In his first season with the Colts, Dungy led them to a 10-6 record and a spot in the playoffs. The Colts would go on to make the playoffs in each of Dungy’s seven seasons as their head coach, winning at least 10 games in every season. In 2006, Dungy became the first African American head coach to win a Super Bowl when the Colts defeated the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI. He retired from coaching after the 2008 season with an overall record of 139-69 (.668).
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1996-2001)
Tony Dungy was hired as the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1996, and he led the team to a 6-10 record in his first season. The following year, the Buccaneers improved to 10-6 and made their first playoff appearance in 15 years. In 1999, Dungy led the Bucs to an 11-5 record and another playoff berth. They made it to the NFC Championship game, but lost to the St. Louis Rams 11-6.

Tony Dungy coached the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1981 to 1988. Before becoming the head coach of the Steelers, Dungy was an assistant coach for the University of Minnesota and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dungy is credited with helping to develop the “Steel Curtain” defense that helped lead the Steelers to four Super Bowl victories in the 1970s.
