The Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team is one of the most successful programs in the nation. They have won five SEC Championships and have made it to the College World Series seven times. Vanderbilt is currently ranked number two in the nation. Today, the Vanderbilt Commodores will take on the University of Tennessee.

Vanderbilt’s Baseball Schedule

The Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team represents Vanderbilt University in NCAA Division I college baseball. The team is a member of the SEC’s Eastern division. They play their home games at Hawkins Field on the university’s Nashville, Tennessee campus.

Vanderbilt has won five SEC regular season titles (2004, 2007, 2013, 2014, 2015), one SEC Tournament title (2007), and have appeared in 17 NCAA Tournaments. They have also appeared in four College World Series (2014, 2015, 2016, 2019). As of 2019, Vanderbilt has the highest winning percentage of any team in NCAA Division I baseball history.

The roster is composed of 34 men comprising 27 players on the 40-man active roster and 7 minor league prospects. These pitchers and infielders make up the core of the team that will aim to continue Vanderbilt’s tradition of excellence on the diamond in 2019.

Vanderbilt’s Baseball History

Vanderbilt’s storied baseball history includes two College World Series titles, five trips to the CWS, 25 conference championships and 29 NCAA Tournament appearances. The Commodores have produced two Major League Baseball Rookie of the Year Award winners, eight MLB All-Stars, and over 100 Major League Baseball draft picks. Vanderbilt’s campus is also home to one of the nation’s premier collegiate baseball venues, Hawkins Field.

Vanderbilt has won 9 SEC regular season championships and 11 SEC tournament championships. They have also made 19 NCAA tournament appearances, including 7 trips to the College World Series. Vanderbilt has never won a national championship, but they have finished as the runner-up 3 times.

Vanderbilt’s Baseball All-Americans

Vanderbilt has had 27 players earn 42 All-America honors in its history. The 41st and 42nd came in 2019, when JJ Bleday was a first-team selection by Baseball America and NCAA.com and Kumar Rocker was a second-team choice by Collegiate Baseball. It marked the fourth consecutive year that Vanderbilt had multiple All-Americans and the sixth time in seven years.

Vanderbilt’s baseball team is coached by Tim Corbin, who is in his 16th season with the team. He has led the team to five College World Series appearances and has won the national championship twice.

Vanderbilt University has had 12 head coaches in their history of their baseball program. These coaches have led Vanderbilt to 27 SEC Championships and 3 College World Series appearances. Vanderbilt’s Baseball Assistant Coaches

Josh Dye enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Vanderbilt baseball program in 2019. Prior to Vanderbilt, Dye served as an assistant coach at Campbell University for one season (2018).

Dye played collegiately at East Carolina where he was a two-year starter and helped the Pirates to Conference USA regular season and tournament championships in 2013. He was named to the all-tournament team after batting .368 with two home runs in four games.
