NFL Ejections
In the NFL, there are rules and regulations that players must follow in order to avoid getting ejected from the game. Some of these rules include no fighting, no taunting, and no using racial slurs. If a player breaks one of these rules, they will be ejected from the game. Today, we will be discussing some of the players who got ejected from their NFL games.
Ejection Process
An ejection in the National Football League is defined by officiating as “the removal of a player, coach, or non-playing personnel from the sidelines or playing field by game officials for unsportsmanlike conduct or repeated violations of a rule.” Once an individual is ejected, he must leave the field immediately and go to the locker room. A player who is ejected for fighting cannot return to the game.
Ejections are generally sent off for one of two reasons: 1) for repeated violations of NFLrules, or 2) for unsportsmanlike conduct on the field.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct Offenses
The following are consideredunsportsmanlike conduct and will result in an ejection:
-flagrant personal fouls
-taunting
-excessive profanity
-throwing a punch or kick
-entering a fight as an instigator
-using abusive, threatening, or insulting language directed at opponents, teammates, officials, or league personnel.
Some notableNFL players who have been ejected in recent years include Odell Beckham Jr., LeSean McCoy, Dez Bryant, and Aqib Talib.
Ejection Reasons
The NFL has a strict code of conduct that all players must abide by. If a player breaks one of these rules, they may be subject to ejection from the game. Some of the most common reasons for ejections include:
-Unsportsmanlike Conduct: This can include any type of disrespectful or unsavory behavior on the field, such as taunting, fighting, or using abusive language.
-Roughing the Passer: This is when a defensive player hits the quarterback late, after he has thrown the ball, or with excessive force.
-Targeting: This is when a player hits another player in a way that is deemed to be overly aggressive or dangerous, such as leading with their helmet.
Other reasons for ejection can include throwing a punch or kick at an opponent, head-butting, and spitting on an opposing player. In some cases, players may also be ejected for having too many personal fouls in a game.

Player Reactions
Some players take their ejections in stride, while others are clearly irate when they are removed from the game. No matter the reaction, getting ejected is not something any player wants to experience. Here are some of the most memorable player reactions to being ejected from an NFL game.
49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks was ejected from a game against the Panthers in 2016 for hitting a Carolina player in the head with his forearm. Brooks was visibly upset as he walked off the field and had to be restrained by teammates and coaches.
In 2018, Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict was ejected for making contact with an official during a game against the Raiders. Burfict appeared to be calm as he walked off the field, but Bengals coach Marvin Lewis was irate and had to be restrained by players and staff.
Packers defensive lineman Datone Jones was ejected from a game against the Seahawks in 2015 for punching a Seattle player in the face. Jones walked off the field slowly and calmly, but his teammates were visibly upset and had to be restrained by coaches and security personnel.
NFL Referees
In the NFL, there are several reasons why a player may be ejected from a game. These reasons include fighting, unsportsmanlike conduct, or a flagrant personal foul. If a player is ejected, he must leave the field and go to the locker room. The player is not allowed to return to the game.
Referee Training
In order to become an NFL referee, you must complete a training program approved by the NFL. Once you have completed the program and been officially certified, you can apply for open positions on the NFL Referee website.
The application process includes an online form and a written exam. Once you have submitted your application, it will be reviewed by the NFL Referee selection committee. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted by a member of the committee.
The interview process consists of two parts: a personal interview and a simulated game situation. The personal interview is conducted by a panel of three current NFL referees who ask questions about your qualifications and evaluate your responses.
The simulated game situation is conducted on the field, where you will be given a scenario and asked to make a call. You will be evaluated on your decision-making skills and your knowledge of the rules.
If you are selected for the position, you will be required to attend a week-long training camp held at an NFL stadium prior to the start of the season. At the training camp, you will receive on-field training from current NFL referees as well as classroom instruction on league rules and officiating mechanics.
Referee Decisions
All NFL officials are part-time employees and are not paid during the preseason, regular season or postseason. They are paid on a per-game basis and receive $100-$300 per game. The majority of officials hold other full-time jobs during the year. According to USA Today, as of 2008, the NFL employed 119 full-time officials and most earn an annual salary in the range of $30,000-$70,000.
NFL Fans
Fan Reactions
The NFL has seen some intense fan reactions in its history. From fights in the stands to coaches cursing at fans, there are many ways that fans have made their presence felt during a game.
One of the most recent examples of this took place during the 2019 NFC Championship game, when Eagles fans pelted Rams players with objects as they were exiting the field after a loss. While no one was seriously injured, it was a clear example of how passionate fan can get.
It’s not just Eagles fans who have been known to get out of hand, however. Raiders fans have a long history of getting into fights and throwing objects onto the field, and Jets fans once booed their own team so loudly that it caused an earthquake.
Whether they’re cheering their team on to victory or venting their frustration at a loss, there’s no doubt that NFL fans are some of the most passionate in all of sports.
NFL Fan Opinions
What NFL fan doesn’t have an opinion on their favorite team? You can’t go anywhere without hearing fans talking about who they think is going to win the next game, or which player is the best in the league.
But sometimes, things can get a little heated between fans. Emotions can run high, especially when your team isn’t doing so well. That’s when tempers can flare and words can be said that maybe shouldn’t be.
If you get too rowdy at an NFL game, you run the risk of getting ejected. Here are some examples of recent events where fans have been removed from the stadium.
In September 2019, a New York Jets fan was ejected from MetLife Stadium for throwing a beer at an opposing player.
In November 2018, two Philadelphia Eagles fans were escorted out of Lincoln Financial Field after fighting with each other.
In December 2017, a Miami Dolphins fan was ejected from Hard Rock Stadium for throwing paper airplanes onto the field.
So if you’re planning on going to an NFL game, remember to keep your cool and root for your team politely!
