It’s that time of year again! We’re taking a look at who had the best NFL draft this year.

The best draft picks

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers take the cake when it comes to the best NFL draft. This is not up for debate. They had the first overall pick and used it on a player who will change the face of their franchise for years to come.

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns took home the title of best NFL draft class for 2020, according to ESPN’s draft grades.

The Browns selected LSU wide receiver Jarvis Landry with the No. 12 overall pick in the first round. Landry is a three-time Pro Bowler and was named a second-team All-Pro in 2017. He caught 81 passes for 1,174 yards and four touchdowns last season.

In the second round, the Browns drafted Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield with the No. 1 overall pick. Mayfield won the Heisman Trophy in 2017 and was named a first-team All-American in 2016 and 2017. He threw for 4,627 yards and 43 touchdowns last season.

With their third-round pick, the Browns drafted Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa with the No. 2 overall pick. Bosa was named a first-team All-American in 2016 and 2017 and was the Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2017. He had 8.5 sacks last season.

Overall, ESPN gave the Browns an A grade for their draft class.

New York Giants

The New York Giants selected Georgia running back Herschel Walker with the 14th pick of the 1983 draft. This was considered a reach at the time, but it turned out to be an inspired choice. Walker went on to have a stellar career with the Giants, rushing for 5,562 yards and 37 touchdowns in six seasons with the team. He was named to the Pro Bowl three times and was a first-team All-Pro selection in 1986.

Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts came into the NFL Draft with seven picks and plenty of needs on both sides of the ball. They walked away with a potential franchise quarterback, a stud running back, and a whole lot more. Here’s a look at their complete draft class:

The worst draft picks

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have had some great draft picks over the years. However, they have also had their share of busts. Here is a look at the five worst draft picks in Patriots history.

1. Jude Waddy (RB, 2000): Waddy was selected in the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft out of Marshall. He appeared in just two games for the Patriots, rushing for a total of 28 yards on eight carries. He was released after one season and never played in the NFL again.

2. Daniel Graham (TE, 2002): Graham was selected in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft out of Colorado. He had a solid rookie season, catching 47 passes for 546 yards and four touchdowns. However, he struggled thereafter and was eventually traded to the Denver Broncos in 2006.

3. Bethel Johnson (WR, 2003): Johnson was selected in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M. He appeared in 46 games for the Patriots, catching 54 passes for 998 yards and six touchdowns. He also returned kickoffs and punts during his time with the team. However, he was released after four seasons and never played in the NFL again.

4. Laurence Maroney (RB, 2006): Maroney was selected in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Minnesota. He appeared in 49 games for the Patriots, rushing for 2,280 yards and 21 touchdowns. However, he struggled with injuries throughout his career and was eventually traded to the Denver Broncos in 2010.

5 . Aaron Hernandez (TE, 2010): Hernandez was selected in the fourth round ofthe 2010 NFL Draft out of Florida . He had a breakout yearin 2011 , catching 79 passes for 910 yards and seven touchdowns . However , he was released bythe Patriots following his arrestfor murderin 2013 .

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have had some of the worst NFL draft picks in recent years. In 2015, they selected offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson in the first round. Tomlinson was considered a reach at the time, and he has since been a bust. He was traded to the San Francisco 49ers after just two seasons with the Lions.

In 2016, the Lions selected linebacker Jarrad Davis in the first round. Davis has been a disappointment, as he has struggled to stay healthy and be productive when on the field.

The Lions drafted running back Kerryon Johnson in the second round of the 2018 NFL draft. Johnson showed promise as a rookie, but he missed most of his second season with an injury.

The Lions drafted tight end T.J. Hockenson in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft. Hockenson had a solid rookie season, but he regressed in his second year and is currently sidelined with an injury.

Miami Dolphins

-QB Dan Marino (1983): While Marino is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, he was actually a bust for the Dolphins. He was drafted 27th overall and only played two seasons for the team.

-RB Sammie Smith (1988): The Dolphins used a first-round pick on Smith, but he only played four seasons for the team. He rushed for just 2,200 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career.

-CB Jamar Fletcher (2001): The Dolphins traded up to select Fletcher with the 26th overall pick, but he only played three seasons for the team. He had just one interception in his career.

The most surprising draft picks

The NFL Draft is always full of surprises. Some teams make picks that are obvious, while others go for the home run and make a pick that nobody saw coming. This year’s draft was no different, with a number of teams making picks that left everyone scratching their heads. Let’s take a look at some of the most surprising picks from this year’s NFL Draft.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With the 13th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected safety Antoine Winfield Jr. from Minnesota. This was a bit of a surprise because most people had Winfield going in the second round. The Buccaneers must have seen something they really liked because they traded up to get him.

Winfield is the son of former NFL cornerback Antoine Winfield Sr., who played for the Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection and was named to the NFL All-Pro team once.

The younger Winfield is considered to be a very good all-around safety with good size (5-foot-10, 205 pounds) and speed (4.45 in the 40-yard dash). He had seven interceptions and 12 passes breakup last season for Minnesota.

Kansas City Chiefs

With the NFL draft coming to a close, fans can now look back and see what teams did well, and which ones didn’t. The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the teams that seem to have surprised everyone with their selections.

With their first pick in the draft, the Chiefs chose tight end Travis Kelce out of the University of Cincinnati. This was a bit of a surprise because many people thought that the Chiefs would go with an offensive lineman to help protect their quarterback, Alex Smith.

However, Kelce is a very good player and should be a big help to the Chiefs offense. He has good size and speed and is a very good blocker. He should be able to make an immediate impact for the Chiefs.

With their second pick, the Chiefs selected linebacker Dee Ford out of Auburn University. Again, this was a bit of a surprise because many people thought that the Chiefs would go with an offensive lineman or a defensive lineman with this pick.

However, Ford is a very good player and should be a big help to the Chiefs defense. He is very quick off the edge and should be able to get to the quarterback quite often. He should be able to make an immediate impact for the Chiefs.

Seattle Seahawks

Many experts had the Seattle Seahawks selecting a defensive player with their first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Most thought they would go with either a linebacker or an edge rusher. But, in a bit of a surprise, they instead chose Texas Tech wide receiver CeeDee Lamb with the 27th pick.

Lamb was widely considered to be one of the best three receivers in the draft, so it was definitely a bit of a surprise to see him fall all the way to the Seahawks at 27. It’s even more surprising when you consider that they passed on players like Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses and Clemson edge rusher Xavier Thomas, who were both still on the board.

The Seahawks made another surprising move later in the draft when they selected Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round. Hurts is a very talented player, but many felt that he would be better off sitting behind Russell Wilson for a year or two before taking over as the starter. It will be interesting to see how Hurts fits into Seattle’s plans going forward.
