Who Has Clinched the NFL Playoffs?

The NFL playoffs are upon us and there are many teams still in the running for the Lombardi trophy. Who will be the ones to clinch their spot in the playoffs?

The NFL Playoffs

The NFL playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the National Football League’s (NFL) regular season to determine the league’s champion. The playoffs are composed of four rounds: the Wild Card playoffs, the Divisional playoffs, the Conference championships, and finally, the Super Bowl.

The AFC

The New England Patriots have clinched the AFC East for the 11th consecutive season. The Kansas City Chiefs have clinched the AFC West and a first-round bye in the playoffs. The Houston Texans have clinched the AFC South. The Pittsburgh Steelers have clinched a playoff berth.

The NFC

The National Football Conference (NFC) is one of the two conferences of the National Football League (NFL), the highest professional level of American football in the world. This conference and its counterpart, the American Football Conference (AFC), currently contain 16 teams each, making up a total of 32 teams in the NFL.

As of Week 16 of the 2019 NFL season, the following teams have clinched a spot in the NFC playoffs:

-The Green Bay Packers have clinched the NFC North division title and a first-round bye.

-The New Orleans Saints have clinched the NFC South division title.

-The Seattle Seahawks have clinched a playoff berth.

The AFC Playoffs

The National Football League playoffs for the American Football Conference (AFC) will begin on Saturday, January 5, 2019. The four divisional winners will each host a playoff game on Wild Card Weekend. The two Wild Card winners will then travel to the home stadiums of the two divisional winners with the best record for the Divisional Playoffs. The winner of each Divisional Playoff game will advance to the AFC Championship game, which will be played on Sunday, January 20, 2019. The AFC Championship game will be held at the home stadium of the divisional playoff team with the best record.

The Wild Card Round

In the National Football League (NFL), the wildcard round is the first round of the playoffs. The four teams with the best regular-season records from each conference who did not win their conference’s divisional championship qualify for the playoffs as wildcard teams. These teams compete in two knockout matches, with the winners advancing to play the top seeded teams in each conference in their respective divisional playoff games.

The Divisional Round

The eight teams that have qualified for the AFC playoffs are the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens.

The divisional round of the playoffs will see the Patriots play the Chargers, the Steelers play the Jaguars and the Titans play the Ravens. The Chiefs will have a bye in this round.

The Patriots are the defending Super Bowl champions and they are once again the favourites to win it all this year. They have a record of 12-4 and they are led by quarterback Tom Brady.

The Chargers are also 12-4 and they are led by quarterback Philip Rivers. They finished first in the AFC West and they will be looking to pull off an upset against the Patriots in the divisional round.

The Steelers are 11-5 and they are led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. They finished first in the AFC North and they will be looking to make it back to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years.

The Jaguars are 10-6 and they are led by quarterback Blake Bortles. They finished first in the AFC South and they will be looking to make it to their first ever Super Bowl.

The Titans are 9-7 and they are led by quarterback Marcus Mariota. They finished second in the AFC South but they made it into the playoffs thanks to their wild card win over the Chiefs.

The Conference Championship

In the National Football League (NFL), the Conference Championships are the annual championship games that decide the winners of each of the league’s two conferences, the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). The AFC and NFC were created after the merger between the American Football League (AFL) and the National Football League in 1970. In each conference, four teams qualify for the playoffs based on their regular season records. These teams compete in a single-elimination tournament, with only two teams advancing to the Super Bowl, NFL’s biggest game.

The NFC Playoffs

The National Football Conference (NFC) playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held each year to determine the National Football League (NFL) champion. The tournament bracket is made up of six teams, the four divisional champions and two wild card teams. The top two seeds receive a bye in the first round. In the first round, the third seed hosts the sixth seed and the fourth seed hosts the fifth seed. The winners of these games advance to the second round, where they play the top seed and the second seed, respectively.

The Wild Card Round

In the NFL, the playoffs are single-elimination and the better seed always hosts the game. There are four total playoff games, two in each conference. The winners of those four games advance to the divisional round. In the NFC, those matchups will be No. 1 vs. No. 4 and No. 2 vs. No. 3, with both games being played on Saturday, Jan 12th and Sunday, Jan 13th.

The four teams that have clinched a spot in the Wild Card round are:
-The Washington Redskins (No. 4 seed) will play at the Seattle Seahawks (No. 1 seed) on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. ET on NBC
-The Green Bay Packers (No 3 seed) will play at the Dallas Cowboys (No 2 seed) on Sunday at 4:40 p.m ET on FOX
-The Los Angeles Rams (No 6 seed) will play at the Atlanta Falcons (No 5 seed) on Saturday at 4:35 p.m ET on NBC

The Divisional Round

The divisional round of the NFL playoffs is when the playing field shrinks from 12 teams to eight. The four division winners with the best records host the four wild-card winners.

This weekend’s games will feature some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, with Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson all in action. There are also some interesting matchups, like the Saints and Eagles meeting for the first time since New Orleans’ miracle win in last year’s divisional round.

Here’s a look at all four divisional-round games:

Saturday, Jan. 11
AFC: No. 4 Houston Texans at No. 1 Kansas City Chiefs, 4:35 p.m. ET (ESPN)
NFC: No. 6 Minnesota Vikings at No. 2 San Francisco 49ers, 8:15 p.m. ET (NBC)

The Conference Championship

The National Football Conference (NFC) playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the regular season to determine the National Football Conference (NFC) champion. The winner of this tournament advances to face the winner of the American Football Conference (AFC) playoffs in the Super Bowl.

This year, the NFC Championship game will be played on Sunday, January 19th at 3:00pm ET and will be broadcast on Fox. The two teams competing for the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl will be determined by this weekend’s divisional playoff games.

If the #1 seed Los Angeles Rams defeat the #6 seed Dallas Cowboys, they will advance to the NFC Championship game where they will face either the #2 seed New Orleans Saints or the #5 seed Minnesota Vikings.

If the #2 seed New Orleans Saints lose to the #5 seed Minnesota Vikings, then the Vikings will advance to play in next week’s NFC Championship game against either the Rams or Cowboys.

The Cowboys and Saints will kick off at 4:40pm ET on Sunday afternoon, with the Vikings and Rams playing at 8:00pm ET that evening.

Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl champions, having defeated the San Francisco 49ers in February 2020. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have also clinched a spot in the playoffs.

There are four teams left vying for a spot in the Super Bowl, and they are the New England Patriots, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
