Who Has Declared For the NBA Draft?

The NBA draft is just around the corner, and we’ve got all the latest news and rumors on who’s declaring and who’s staying put.

Zion Williamson

Zion Williamson is an American college basketball player for the Duke Blue Devils of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Williamson, who was widely regarded as the top prospect in the high school class of 2018, played for Duke for one season before declaring for the 2019 NBA draft.

His stats

Zion Williamson is a college basketball player for the Duke Blue Devils. He was widely considered one of the top prospects in the 2018 class. As a freshman, he averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 blocks per game. He was named the National Freshman of the Year and earned First Team All-ACC honors. He also helped lead Duke to a 32-6 record and an appearance in the Elite Eight. In his freshman season, he set the Duke freshman single-season record for points with 841.

His potential

Zion Williamson has the potential to be one of the best players in the NBA. He is a physical specimen and has the ability to take over a game. His combination of size, strength, and athleticism is unmatched. He also has a tremendous work ethic and is always looking to improve his game.

There are some concerns about his game, however. He needs to improve his outside shooting and ball handling. He also needs to work on his defense. But if he can develop those areas of his game, there is no doubt that he has the potential to be a superstar in the league.

RJ Barrett

RJ Barrett, a 6’7″ shooting guard from Duke, has declared for the 2019 NBA Draft. He is widely considered to be one of the best players in the draft.

His stats

In his lone college season, Barrett averaged 22.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.2 steals per game while shooting 45.4 percent from the field and 33.8 percent from three-point range. He was named the USBWA National Freshman of the Year, a first-team All-American and the ACC Player of the Year.

His potential

One of the most electric scorer in college basketball, RJ Barrett put together one incredible freshman season at Duke. He was named a First Team All-American and the ACC Player of the Year, and he led the Blue Devils to a 27-9 record and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Barrett averaged 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 45 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 68 percent from the free-throw line.

Barrett has an improving jump shot and he’s shown flashes of being a good passer, but his biggest strength is his ability to get to the basket and finish through contact. He’s an excellent finisher around the rim with either hand, and he averaged 6.4 free throws per game as a freshman. Barrett is also a very good rebounder for his position, as he proved by averaging 7.6 boards per contest.

There are some concerns about Barrett’s perimeter shooting and decision-making, but he has all of the tools to be a star in the NBA. He’s an elite scorer with outstanding athleticism, and he should be able to make an immediate impact at the next level.

Ja Morant

It’s official: Ja Morant will declare for the 2019 NBA Draft. The sophomore from Murray State took to social media to make the announcement, saying he’s “blessed and thankful” for the opportunity. Morant is widely considered to be a lottery pick and one of the top prospects in the draft.

His stats

Standing at 6’3”, he played point guard for the Murray State Racers. He was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, becoming the first Murray State player to do so since 1979. He led the nation in scoring with 24.5 points per game while adding 5.7 assists and shooting 50.3% from the field and 36.3% from three-point range. He is the only Division I player in the last 20 years with those numbers in all three categories while also averaging over six rebounds per game.

His potential

As a 6’3” point guard, Morant has good size for his position. He is an explosive athlete who excels in transition. He is a creative playmaker with the ability to finish at the rim or find an open teammate. His jump shot needs work, but he has shown improvement in that area. Defensively, he has the quickness and strength to be a good defender at the NBA level.
