It’s never too early to start thinking about the NFL draft. Here’s a look at who might have the first pick in the 2021 draft.
The Bengals Have the First Pick
The Cincinnati Bengals have the first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. This is the first time in franchise history that the Bengals have held the first overall pick. The team went 2-14 last season and had the worst record in the NFL.
The Dolphins Have the Second Pick
The 2021 NFL Draft is fast approaching, and with the regular season now over, we finally know all 32 first-round draft order. The Miami Dolphins, who went 10-6 and made the playoffs in 2020, will have the No. 2 overall pick. The Jacksonville Jaguars (1-15) will have the No. 1 pick for the second consecutive year.
The New York Jets (2-14), who finished with the second-worst record in the NFL, will have the No. 3 pick. They will be followed by the Atlanta Falcons (4-12), Cincinnati Bengals (4-11-1), Philadelphia Eagles (4-11-1), Detroit Lions (5-11), Carolina Panthers (5-11), Denver Broncos (5-11) and Dallas Cowboys (6-10).
As for the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, they will have the No. 31 pick in the first round. The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV back in February 2020.
The Jaguars Have the Third Pick
right now, with the way the standings are, the Jaguars would have the third pick in the 2021 NFL draft. If they finish with one of the worst records in the league, they could end up with the first overall pick.
The Texans Have the Fourth Pick
As it stands right now, the Houston Texans will have the fourth pick in the 2021 NFL draft. This is due to their 4-11 record in the 2020 season. The Texans are currently behind the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-14), New York Jets (2-13), and Cincinnati Bengals (3-11-1).
The Lions Have the Fifth Pick
The Lions are on the clock for the fifth pick in the NFL Draft.
The Panthers Have the Sixth Pick
As of right now, the Panthers have the sixth pick in the 2021 NFL draft. This could change depending on how the rest of the season plays out, but as things stand, they will be picking in the middle of the first round.
The Panthers will likely be looking to add some pieces on both sides of the ball with their first-round pick. On offense, they could look to add a dynamic playmaker at running back or receiver, while on defense they could look to add an impact player at either Defensive end or cornerback.
Whoever they end up picking, the Panthers will be hoping that their first-round selection can make an immediate impact and help lead them back to contention in the NFC South.
The Broncos Have the Seventh Pick
The 2021 NFL Draft will be the 86th annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible players. The draft is scheduled to be held on April 29-May 1, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. This will be the first time that the draft is conducted entirely virtually, with teams making their picks from their ownwar rooms due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As it stands right now, the Broncos have the seventh pick in the first round. Depending on how free agency and trades shake out between now and then, that could obviously move up or down.
Assuming they stay at No. 7, they would be selecting behind the Jets, Jaguars, Bengals, Panthers, Cowboys and Cardinals — and ahead of the Patriots, Chargers and Vikings.
The Cowboys Have the Eighth Pick
The 2021 NFL Draft order is set. Now, we can finally start to speculate about who will go where. The first pick of the draft will, of course, be a highly coveted spot. But who has it?
The answer might surprise you. The Cowboys, who finished with the worst record in the NFL last season, actually have the eighth pick in the draft. That’s because they traded away their first-round pick to the Buffalo Bills as part of a deal for wide receiver Sammy Watkins last season.
So, if you’re looking for a potential sleeper in the first round of the draft, keep an eye on the Cowboys. They’ll have plenty of talent to choose from with their eighth overall pick.
The Giants Have the Ninth Pick
The Giants have the ninth pick in the 2021 NFL draft. They finished with a record of 6-10 in 2020, which was good for third place in the NFC East. The Giants have not had a top-10 pick since they selected QB Eli Manning with the first overall pick in 2004.
The Eagles Have the Tenth Pick
The 2021 NFL Draft will be the 86th annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. The draft is scheduled to be held on April 29–May 1, 2021 in Cleveland, Ohio. This will be the first time since 1961 that the draft is being held in Cleveland, and the first time that it is being held in an Ohio city since 2021.
The Eagles have the tenth pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. They acquired this pick as part of a trade with the San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles traded their first-round pick (12th overall), a fourth-round pick (123rd overall), and a 2022 second-round pick to the 49ers in exchange for the tenth overall pick and a 2022 third-round pick.
