Who Has the Best QBR in the NFL?
Who has the best QBR in the NFL? We take a look at the top contenders and make our case for who we think is the best.
Tom Brady
Tom Brady, of the New England Patriots, has the best QBR in the NFL. QBR, or quarterback rating, is a measure of how well a quarterback performs in a game. It takes into account a number of factors, including passing yards, touchdowns, interceptions, and sacks. Brady has consistently been one of the top quarterbacks in the league since he joined the Patriots in 2001.
Aaron Rodgers
Rodgers, who was drafted by the Packers in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft, has been one of the most successful quarterbacks in the league over the past decade. He has led the Packers to six NFC North titles, four NFC Championship Games, and a Super Bowl victory. He was named Super Bowl MVP in 2011 and has been selected to six Pro Bowls. In 2019, he was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for a second time.
Rodgers has always been one of the league’s most efficient quarterbacks. His career passer rating of 103.8 is the best in NFL history, and he has thrown for more than 4,000 yards in nine different seasons. He is also one of only six quarterbacks to have thrown for 40 or more touchdowns in a season three times.
In 2019, Rodgers had one of the best seasons of his career, throwing for 4,002 yards and 26 touchdowns with just four interceptions. His passer rating of 106.0 was his second-best mark ever and his QBR of 85.5 was the best in the NFL. He led the Packers to a 13-3 record and another NFC North title.
Drew Brees
Drew Brees is widely considered the best quarterback in the NFL. In terms of raw numbers, Brees has the most passing yards and touchdown passes of any quarterback in NFL history. He’s also done all of this while completing nearly 70 percent of his passes, which is an incredibly high success rate.
Brees’ passer rating (QBR) is also the best in NFL history. QBR is a metric that takes into account a variety of factors, including pass completion percentage, yards per attempt, touchdown-to-interception ratio, and how well a quarterback performs in clutch situations. By this measure, Brees has been the best quarterback in the NFL for a decade.
In terms of team success, Brees has led the New Orleans Saints to nine playoff appearances and one Super Bowl victory. He’s also been named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year twice and was voted first-team All-Pro four times. There’s no question that Brees is one of the all-time greats at the quarterback position.
Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson had the best QBR in the NFL in 2020, according to ESPN. His QBR was 79.6, which was just ahead of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who had a QBR of 77.5.
