In tennis, a Grand Slam is when a player wins all four of the major tournaments in a single calendar year. This can be done in either the singles or doubles format. Margaret Court holds the record for the most Grand Slams in women’s tennis, with 24 wins. She is closely followed by Serena Williams, who has 23 Grand Slams.

Her achievements include winning an astonishing 11 Australian Open titles (a record which still stands today), 24 Grand Slam singles titles (another record), and 3 Grand Slam doubles titles.
Court was dominant on all surfaces, but her best results by far came on her home ground of grass courts. On these surfaces, she won an incredible 19 of the 21 Grand Slam tournaments she entered between 1960 and 1973. This included an incredible streak of 13 straight wins, a feat which has only been matched by two other players in tennis history.
In addition to her singles successes, Court also had a hugely successful career in doubles and mixed doubles. She won 3 Grand Slam doubles titles and 6 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles, giving her a total of 32 Grand Slam victories overall. No other female player has come close to matching this record.
