It should come as no surprise that the player with the most All-Star appearances is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was selected a whopping 19 times during his illustrious career.

After winning 71 consecutive basketball games on his high school team in New York City, Lewis Alcindor was recruits by more than 200 colleges before choosing to attend UCLA at age 17. He changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar when he converted to Islam. Drafted by the one of the worst teams in the league, Kareem helped lead the Bucks to their first ever playoff appearance in just his second season.
In 14 seasons with Milwaukee, he won six MVP Awards and led his team to five NBA Finals, including victories in 1971 over the Baltimore Bullets and in 1974 over the Boston Celtics; both times his team lost in six games to the rival New York Knicks. He was traded to Los Angeles prior to the 1975–76 season in exchange for Elmore Smith, Junior Bridgeman, and Brian Winters. His impact was immediate. During his time with the Lakers he won five additional MVP Awards while leading Los Angeles to nine NBA Finals appearances (1980–88), including five championships (1980, 1982, 1985, 1987–88).
Kareem appeared in 18 consecutive All Star Games during this period which is still an NBA record. He also set another record by being selected to 11 straight All Defensive squads from 1974–75 through 1984–85; no other player has been so honored more than nine times.
