Michael Jordan – 6 rings
Michael Jordan is widely considered the best basketball player of all time. He played for the Chicago Bulls for most of his career, winning 6 NBA championships. He was also a member of the 1992 “Dream Team” that won the Olympic gold medal.
Bill Russell – 11 rings
Bill Russell is the NBA’s most decorated player. He has 11 championships, which is more than any other player in history. He was a key member of the Boston Celtics dynasty that won eight straight titles from 1958 to 1966. He also won three more championships as a player-coach with the Celtics in 1968 and 1969.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – 6 rings
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (born Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr.; April 16, 1947) is an American former professional basketball player who is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. During his 20-year career in the NBA, he won six championships with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. Abdul-Jabbar twice was voted MVP of the Finals. He remains the only player to be named Finals MVP three times (1970, 1971, 1985). A member of six NBA championship teams as a player and two as an assistant coach, Abdul-Jabbar twice was voted NBA MVP (1970–71, 1971–72), was a 14-time NBA All-Star, and a 19-time All-NBA selection. A 10-time member of the NBA All-Defensive Team, he once blocked more shots than any other player in an NBA game (17). In 1996, he was honored as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. Since his retirement as a player at the end of the 1988–89 season, Abdul-Jabbar has been an asset to multiple basketball teams including serving head coach John Wooden predecessor at UCLA; he has also been head coach of the alma mater’s men’s varsity team for one season and worked as an assistant coach with several National Basketball Association (NBA) teams. Outside basketball, Abdul-Jabbar has been an actor with several film roles such as Airplane! and television appearances such as guest host for Saturday Night Live show and lent his voice for animated TV shows such The Simpsons and Batman: The Animated Series films. He was also a weekly columnist for The Guardian newspaper from 2005 to 2011. In 2012, he published his autobiography titled Giant Steps which chronicles his basketball career from childhood till retirement after 20 seasons in professional leagues.
Magic Johnson – 5 rings
Magic Johnson won five NBA championships in his career, all with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was a part of the “Showtime” era Lakers teams that also included Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy. Johnson is also a three-time NBA Finals MVP and a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player.
Robert Horry – 7 rings
Robert Horry has the most NBA rings in history with 7. He won 2 with the Houston Rockets, 3 with the Los Angeles Lakers, and 2 with the San Antonio Spurs. Horry is also a 2-time NBA champion, winning titles in 1994 and 1995 with the Rockets.
