Emmitt Smith
Emmitt Smith is a retired American football player who had a twenty-year career in the National Football League (NFL). Smith is the NFL’s all-time leader in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. He is also the only running back to have ever won a Super Bowl MVP award.
NFL career
Emmitt Smith played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1990-2002, during which time he set numerous NFL rushing records and won many awards, including the NFL Most Valuable Player Award in 1993 and the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award in 1996. After leaving the Cowboys, Smith played for the Arizona Cardinals for two seasons before retiring. He is currently the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, with 18,355 yards.
NFL records
When it comes to touchdowns, no player has scored more in NFL history than Emmitt Smith. The former Dallas Cowboys running back racked up 164 total TDs during his illustrious career, which spanned from 1990 to 2004.
Smith’s 164 TDs are a combination of 157 rushing touchdowns and seven receiving touchdowns. He also had three touchdown runs of at least 90 yards, which is an NFL record.
The next closest player to Smith in terms of career TDs is Jerry Rice, who scored 176 total TDs (158 receiving, eight rushing, 10 return). However, Rice’s 10 return TDs are not included in the official NFL record books. Therefore, Smith is officially recognized as the NFL’s all-time leader in touchdowns with 157.

Rice began his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers as the 16th pick of the first round in the 1985 NFL Draft. He played his entire 20-year career with the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders, winning three Super Bowls with each team. He is currently the NFL’s all-time leader in most career touchdown receptions, most career receptions, most receiving yards, and most All-Pro selections for a wide receiver.

He holds virtually every significant receiving record, including most career receptions (1,549), most receiving yards in a season (1,848) and most touchdowns in a season (22). LaDainian Tomlinson
LaDainian Tomlinson is a retired NFL running back who spent the majority of his career with the San Diego Chargers. He is currently ranked 5th all time in rushing yards and 3rd in rushing touchdowns. In 2011, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
NFL career
Tomlinson was drafted by the San Diego Chargers with the fifth overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft. He immediately became their starting running back, and had one of the best rookie seasons for a running back in NFL history, earning him numerous honors including the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award and a spot in the Pro Bowl. In just his second season, he helped lead the Chargers to an appearance in Super Bowl XXXVII. The following year, he was selected to his second Pro Bowl and was also named as a first-team All-Pro by The Associated Press for the first time in his career. In 2003, Tomlinson set a then-league record for touchdowns in a single season, with 28 rushing and 3 receiving.

LaDainian Tomlinson is a former American football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) for eleven seasons. He is considered to be one of the greatest running backs of all time. In 2010, he was ranked as the fifth-best player in NFL history by The Sporting News.
Tomlinson was drafted by the San Diego Chargers fifth overall in the 2001 NFL Draft. He immediately became their starting running back, rushing for over 1,200 yards and ten touchdowns his rookie year. In 2003, he helped lead the Chargers to their first AFC West divisional title in team history.
In 2004 and 2005, Tomlinson had at least 1,600 rushing yards and fourteen touchdowns each season; he also set several touchdown scoring records during those two years. In 2006, he helped lead the Chargers to an AFC Championship Game appearance while being named the NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year; he also won the Bert Bell Award that year.
Tomlinson continued his prolific touchdown scoring in 2007; he had seventeen rushing touchdowns and set an NFL record for most consecutive games with a touchdown (eighteen). In 2008, Tomlinson suffered from injuries limited him to twelve games; he still managed to score twelve touchdowns as well as becoming the Animals Humane Society’s inaugural Humane Athlete of the Year. He returned healthy enough in 2009 to post his eighth consecutive 1,000-yard season along with another fourteen-touchdown campaign; this made him only one of three players to ever have at least nine consecutive seasons with 1,000 rushing yards and ten or more rushing touchdowns (the other two are Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders).
