Emmitt James Smith III (born May 15, 1969) is a former American football running back who is the NFL’s all-time leader in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. He played fifteen seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals. A three-time Super Bowl champion with the Cowboys, he is also one of only two running backs to win a Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award and have a Super Bowl ring. Smith was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
He played college football at Florida, where he was an All-American. While playing for the Dallas Cowboys, Smith became one of The Triplets along with quarterback Troy Aikman and wide receiver Michael Irvin. He led the league in rushing four times during his career, including his 1993 season where he helped the Cowboys to victory in Super Bowl XXVIII by earning that year’s Super Bowl MVP Award after setting a then-Super Bowl record 133 rushing yards en route to a 132–123 victory over the Buffalo Bills. Smith is also notable as the only running back to ever lead the NFL in rushing yards (1,773) three times (1991–1993).
In 1999, he was ranked number 62 on The Sporting News’ list of the 100 Greatest Football Players, making him one of only seven running backs to be selected to that list. Since 2006 when ESPN ranked NFL players for their annual “Top 50” list Smith has been ranked as high as fifth on that list; in 2010 ESPN ranked him twentieth on their “Top Players of All Time” listing and second among all running backs behind only Jim Brown.[2] In 2019, Emmitt Smith will be inducted into both the College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall Of Fame.

Adrian Lewis Peterson (born March 21, 1985) is an American football running back for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Oklahoma and was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings seventh overall in the 2007 NFL Draft. Peterson set the NCAA freshman rushing record with 1,925 yards as a true freshman during the 2004 season. As a unanimous first-team All-American, he became the first freshman to finish as the runner-up in Heisman Trophy voting.
Peterson began his professional career with the Vikings. He was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after rushed for 1,341 yards and scored 12 touchdowns, led the league in carries (363) and finished second in rushing yards. In his second season, Peterson set an NFL single-game rushing record by running for 296 yards against San Diego Chargers. He again led the league in rushing yards with 1,760 on 370 attempts and scored 10 touchdowns while also earning a spot on the NFC Pro Bowl team. During the 2009 season, he became only one of seven players ever to have more than 3,000 yards through 12 games and ended up second behind Chris Johnson’s 2,006 yard season.
