Emmitt James Smith III (born May 15, 1969) is a former American football running back who became the National Football League’s (NFL) all-time leading rusher during his fifteen seasons in the league during the 1990s and 2000s. A three-time Super Bowl champion with the Dallas Cowboys, Smith is also the NFL’s all-time rushing touchdowns leader with 164. He is currently an analyst for ESPN’s NFL Sunday Countdown.[1]
Smith grew up in Pensacola, Florida and became the Gatorade National Player of the Year at Escambia High School before attending The University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. He set numerous school and NCAA records over his four-year college career. After being drafted in the first round by Dallas in 1990, Smith had an immediate impact on the Cowboys’ offense helping Dallas win Super Bowl XXVII as a rookie. He was named NFL Rookie of the Year.[2] over his first four seasons as a Cowboy he helped them to three Super Bowl victories, including being named MVP of Super Bowl XVIII in their win over the Miami Dolphins; he won again after rushing for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns when Dallas claimed their fifth Lombardi trophy by defeating Pittsburgh Steelers 27–17 at Super Bowl XXX; he was inducted as a member of both the Cowboys Ring of Honor and Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
In 1993, Smith was voted NFL Most Valuable Player after leading league rushing with 1,563 yards and 15 touchdowns,[3] becoming only the second running back to win MVP since Marcus Allen did so in 1985.[4] During his time with Dallas (1990–2002), Smith became one of only two players to twice record 18 plus touchdowns in a season; he accomplished this feat twice with 18 scores in 1995 followed by 21 rushing touchdowns during 1997.[5][6] He holds many NFL records such as most career rushing attempts (4,409), most career rushing yards (18,355), most career 100+ yard rushing games (78 – since surpassed by Walter Payton),[7][8] most consecutive seasons leading league in rushing TDs (4 – tied with Steve Van Buren) and most seasons leading league in attempts (8).[9][10][11] In 1999, he passed Bart Starr as second on the all-time playoff scoring list with 156 points.[12]

LaDainian Tomlinson was a professional football player who is best known for his time with the San Diego Chargers. He was drafted by the Chargers in the first round of the 2001 NFL Draft. During his 11-year career, he became the NFL’s most decorated running back. He was a Pro Bowl selection eight times and was the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 2006.

He also caught 530 passes for over 4,500 yards and 28 touchdowns. In 2006, he had one of the best statistical seasons by a running back in NFL history, rushing for 1,815 yards and 28 touchdowns while also adding 508 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.
Adrian Peterson
Adrian Peterson is an American football running back who has played in the National Football League (NFL) since 2007. He is currently a free agent. Peterson ran for 2,051 yards in 2012, the second-most in a single NFL season, and was named the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) that year.

Career
Peterson began his professional career with the Minnesota Vikings after being drafted in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played college football at Oklahoma.
In his rookie year, Peterson set the NFL single-game rushing record with 296 yards against the San Diego Chargers, which was also an NFL single-game rookie rushing record. In 2010, he became the fifth fastest player to reach 5,000 career rushing yards, doing so in his 51st game.
He has been selected for six Pro Bowls, four first-team All-Pro selections, and two second-team All-Pro selections. He holds the NFL record for most games with 200+ rushing yards (8), and is second in career rushing yards per game (103.1).
