Who’s In The NFL Playoffs?

The NFL playoffs are upon us! Here’s a look at which teams are in, and who’s likely to win it all.

Introduction

The NFL playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the regular season to determine the NFL champion. From this tournament, the winner of the Super Bowl is determined.

There are four rounds of playoffs. The Wild Card round, Divisional round, Conference Championships, and finally the Super Bowl. In the Wild Card and Divisional rounds, there are four teams in each conference (AFC and NFC) that qualify. These teams are seeded 1-4 based on their records in the regular season. The team with the best record is seeded 1 and so on. The higher seed always plays at home against the lower seed. For example, if the #3 seed beats the #6 seed in the Wild Card round, they will then play the #2 seed in the Divisional round.

The NFL Playoffs

The NFL playoffs are upon us and there are some great match-ups this year. Who will advance to the Super Bowl? Let’s take a look at the teams that are in the playoffs.

The AFC

The NFL playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the end of the National Football League’s regular season to determine the league’s champion. Six teams from each of the league’s two conferences qualify for the playoffs based on regular season records, and a series of four rounds of game play, culminating in the Super Bowl, determines the league champion.

The AFC playoff field is set. In the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs (No. 1 seed), Houston Texans (No. 4), Baltimore Ravens (No. 5) and Buffalo Bills (No. 6) have clinched spots in the playoffs and will battle for a chance to play in Super Bowl LIV.

The NFC

The National Football Conference (NFC) is one of the two conferences of the National Football League (NFL), the highest professional level of American football in the world. This conference and its counterpart, the American Football Conference, currently contain 16 teams each, making up a total of 32 teams in the NFL. NFC teams are spread across the United States, with eight of them located in or near major metropolitan areas: Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington D.C., whereas several other teams are located in less populated areas.

The NFC is made up of four divisions: East, West, North and South. Each divisional winner earns a playoff berth. In addition to these four divisional champions, two wild card teams from each conference also earn playoff spots. The NFC Playoffs culminate in the NFC Championship Game, where the conference’s top two teams face off to decide who will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

Conclusion

The NFL playoffs are single-elimination, meaning one loss ends a team’s season. From there, the eight division winners and eight wild-card qualifiers are seeded according to their regular-season records. The top seed in each conference gets a bye in the first round while the remaining six teams play each other in three wild-card games. The winners of those games join the top seeds in the divisional round, when all four No. 1 seeds host a game. The divisional round winners then advance to the conference championship games, with the NFC Championship Game and AFC Championship Game taking place on Sunday, Jan. 24.
