Contents
It’s that time of year again where every game matters and every team is fighting for a playoff spot. Who is fighting for a playoff spot in the NFL this season?
AFC
The Baltimore Ravens have already clinched a playoff spot, but they are still fighting for the top spot in the AFC. The New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Houston Texans are all vying for a first-round bye. The Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers, and Kansas City Chiefs are fighting for the wild card spots. Let’s take a look at each team’s chances.
New England Patriots
As the NFL season enters its final stretch, there are a few teams that have already secured their spot in the playoffs. But for many others, the race for a playoff berth is still very much alive. In the AFC, there are several teams vying for position, including the New England Patriots.
The Patriots are currently sitting atop the AFC East with a 10-2 record. They have clinched a playoff berth, but they are still fighting for the division title and a first-round bye. The Patriots have one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Tom Brady, and they have a talented roster that is coached by Bill Belichick. The Patriots are always a tough team to beat, and they will be tough to stop in the playoffs.
The AFC is full of talented teams, and it will be interesting to see who can secure a spot in the playoffs. The race for a berth is heating up, and it should be a great finish to the season.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Steelers compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) North division. Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest franchise in the AFC.
In 1938, the team relocated to Pittsburgh’s North Side, which following World War II led to a period of great success under legendary coach Chuck Noll, winning four Super Bowl championships in six years. The team currently plays its home games at Heinz Field on Pittsburgh’s South Side in the North Shore neighborhood, which also hosts the University of Pittsburgh Panthers.
Houston Texans
As the season enters its final quarter, the Houston Texans are one of a handful of teams still in the hunt for a playoff spot. The Texans have a record of 8-5 and are currently in second place in the AFC South behind the 9-4 Indianapolis Colts.
The Texans started the season strong, winning their first three games. However, they then slumped to four straight losses. They have since rebounded and won five of their last six games.
If the Texans are to make the playoffs, they will need to continue their winning ways in the final weeks of the season. They will also need some help from other teams, as they are currently behind several other teams in the race for a playoff spot.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the AFL–NFL merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion.
NFC
The Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, and Seattle Seahawks are all fighting for a playoff spot in the NFL. The Cowboys have the best chance of making the playoffs, but the Packers and Seahawks are not far behind. All three teams have a good chance of making the playoffs, but only time will tell who will ultimately win a spot.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team that compete in the National Football League (NFL). They are based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, and play their home games at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The Rams franchise was founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams, located in Cleveland, Ohio. The franchise moved to LA in 1946.

The Saints were founded by John W. Mecom Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans on November 1, 1966. The team played their home games at Tulane Stadium through the 1974 NFL season. They moved to the new Louisiana Superdome (now Mercedes-Benz Superdome) starting with the 1975 season.
Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team based in Chicago, Illinois. The Bears compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. The Bears have won nine NFL Championships, including one Super Bowl, and hold the NFL record for the most enshrinees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the most retired jersey numbers. The Bears have also recorded more victories than any other NFL franchise.
Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football franchise based in Seattle, Washington. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) West division.
