The 2021 MLB playoffs are underway. Who are the teams that made it in?
American League
The American League of Major League Baseball (MLB) is one of two leagues that make up MLB, the other being the National League. MLB is considered the highest level of professional baseball in the world, with the American League consisting of 15 teams and the National League consisting of 16 teams.
Cleveland Indians
The Cleveland Indians are one of the American League teams in Major League Baseball playoffs 2021. As of September 28th, they have clinched a playoff berth. The Indians play their home games at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. The team’s colors are navy blue, red, and white. Their mascot is Slider, a human-sized talking baseball; he was introduced in 1990 and has been popular among fans ever since.
The Indians have had many great players throughout their history including Bob Feller, Napoleon Lajoie, Tris Speaker, Cy Young, Earl Averill, Mel Harder, and Robert Tanaka. The team has also been home to several Hall of Famers such as Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Roberto Clemente, and Nolan Ryan. The Indians have won two World Series championships (in 1920 and 1948) and six American League pennants (in 1920, 1948, 1954, 1995, 1997, and 2016).

The Chicago White Sox are an American professional baseball team based in Chicago, Illinois. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) Central division. The White Sox are owned by Jerry Reinsdorf, and play their home games at Guaranteed Rate Field, located on the city’s South Side. They are one of two major league clubs in Chicago; the other is the Chicago Cubs of the National League (NL) Central division.
One of the American League’s eight charter franchises, the franchise was established as a major league baseball club in 1900. The club was originally known as the Chicago White Stockings, and played home games at South Side Park before moving to Comiskey Park in 1910. As of September 28th, 2021, the Minnesota Twins are in first place in the American League Central with a record of 94-58. They are currently leading the Cleveland Indians by six games. The Twins have clinched a spot in the playoffs and will most likely be the top seed in the American League.

The Houston Astros are an American professional baseball team based in Houston, Texas. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) West division. The Astros have played their home games at Minute Maid Park since 2000.
National League
The National League of Major League Baseball (MLB) is composed of 15 teams. As of 2021, teams in the National League play in two five-team divisions: the East Division and the West Division. The winner of each divisional series advances to the best-of-seven National League Championship Series (NLCS).

San Diego Padres
The San Diego Padres are an American professional baseball team based in San Diego, California. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) West division. The Padres began play in 1969 as an expansion team, and their first major league game was played on April 8, 1969, against the Cincinnati Reds at San Diego Stadium.
