We’re just a few weeks into the NBA season, and it’s already shaping up to be an exciting year. So far, there have been some major upsets and close games. With the playoffs just around the corner, we’re taking a look at who is in the running for a spot.

Eastern Conference

As of now, the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Toronto Raptors have clinched a spot in the 2021 NBA Playoffs. The Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, and Washington Wizards are currently battling it out for the final two spots.

Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks are an American professional basketball team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Bucks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Central Division. The team was founded in 1968 as an expansion team, and play at the Fiserv Forum. Former U.S. Senator Herb Kohl was the long-time owner of the team, until selling to new owners in 2014.[9] The team is managed by Jon Horst, the team’s former director of basketball operations, who took over for John Hammond in May 2017.

The Bucks have won one league title (1971), two conference titles (1971 and 1974), and 13 division titles (1971–74, 1976, 1980–86, 2001–02, 2009–10, 2014–15). They have featured such notable players as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson Jr., Bob Lanier, Glenn Robinson, Ray Allen, Sam Cassell, Junior Bridgeman, Michael Redd, Terry Cummings, Vin Baker, Jon McGlocklin,[10] and Brandon Jennings. Abdul-Jabbar and Robertson are members of the Basketball Hall of Fame.[11][12] Calvin Murphy was inducted intoMilwaukee Bucks Roster 2020-21 Mullen High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006.[13

Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets are an American professional basketball team based in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The Nets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The team plays its home games at Barclays Center. They are one of two NBA teams located in New York City; the other is the New York Knicks. The franchise was established in 1967 as a group of American Basketball Association (ABA) teams that joined the NBA when the ABA–NBA merger occurred.

The Nets were founded as the New Jersey Americans in 1967, and initially played their home games at Teaneck Armory in Teaneck, New Jersey. In its early years, the quality of play in the ABA was not significantly better than in rival NBA leagues, but intriguing stars like Julius Erving and Connie Hawkins attracted fan interest. When it became apparent that competing against NBA teams would be difficult, management set out to build a superstar roster, by acquiring Rick Barry from the San Francisco Warriors for $4.9 million ($35.4 million today). doubled its attendance, leading both to financial stability and respectability within professional basketball circles. Despite several rebuilding years, following Barry’s retirement and subsequent trading of star player Gus Johnson, attendance tapered off; by 1970 attendance was barely a fifth of what it had been just four years earlier. Consequently, despite solid success on court during this period – culminating with five straight playoff appearances from 1974 to 1976 – management felt it necessary to make changes; Head Coach Kevin Loughers was replaced by former ABA Coach Tom Nissalke midway through 1976–77 season

Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are an American professional basketball team based in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The 76ers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division and play at Wells Fargo Center. Founded in 1946 and originally known as the Syracuse Nationals, they are one of the oldest franchises in the NBA, and one of only eight (out of 23) to survive the league’s first decade.

The 76ers have had a rich history, with many of the greatest players in NBA history having played for the organization, including Julius Erving, Wilt Chamberlain, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson. They have won three NBA championships, with their first coming as the Syracuse Nationals in 1955. The second title came in 1967, when the 76ers defeated the San Francisco Warriors 4–2 to win the NBA Finals, claiming their first ever championship. The third title came in 1983, when they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 4–0 in the NBA Finals.

Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards are a professional basketball team based in Washington, D.C. The Wizards compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The team plays its home games at the Capital One Arena, in the Chinatown neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

The franchise was established in 1961 as the Chicago Packers based in Chicago, Illinois, and were renamed to the Chicago Zephyrs the following season. In 1963, they relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, and became the Baltimore Bullets, taking the name from a previous team of the same name that played in that city from 1947 to 1954. In 1973, the team changed its name to the Capital Bullets to reflect their move to Washington, D.C., which came after relocating from Baltimore earlier that year; they then changed their name again in 1997 to the present Wizards after a fan contest that chose “Wizards” over other finalists “Dragons”, “Sea Dogs”, “Express”, and “Sharks”.

The Wizards have appeared in four NBA Finals (1971, 1975, 1978, 1979), winning in 1978. They have had ten playoff appearances since 1980 but only three division titles: one as members of the Eastern Division (1979), and two as members of the Southeast Division (2014, 2015). As a result of COVID-19 pandemic on June 26th 2020 it was announced by NBA that playoffs will include all teams within conference with seedings 1 through 10 based on win-loss records with seeding 1 through 6 receiving homecourt advantage for first round games; games without fans will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando Florida with all teams staying at one or more hotels at Walt Disney World Resort for entire duration of playoffs starting August 17 through September 28 2020. All conference playoff series are best-of-seven games format with first two rounds being double elimination (previous rounds were single elimination until 2019). On December 22nd 2020 it was announced by NBA that due to on going pandemic playoffs will be held entirely within one city per conference with Eastern Conference teams playing out of Indianapolis Indiana and Western Conference teams playing out of Salt Lake City Utah meaning each team will play all their playoff games within their respective conferences meaning no interconference matchups during first two rounds like there otherwise would have been had playoffs been held under traditional format; it also means there can be more than one instance where teams from same division could face off against each other during first two rounds which is normally not possible given how fixed playoff bracket schedule is under traditional format; it also means higher seeded teams may not get normal homecourt advantage they otherwise would have had if playoffs were held under traditional format
