Who Is Left In Free Agency NFL?
Who is left in free agency NFL? There are still some big names out there, but most of the top talent has already been snapped up. Here’s a look at who’s left.
Quarterbacks
The NFL free agency period is always an eventful time as teams jockey for position in an effort to improve their rosters. This year is no different, as there are still a number of quality quarterbacks available on the open market. Who are the best quarterbacks left in free agency?
Kirk Cousins-Minnesota Vikings
Kirk Cousins is a free agent quarterback who most recently played for the Minnesota Vikings. He is a four-time Pro Bowl selection and was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2020. cousins is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, and his agent has said that he is looking for a team that will give him a chance to win a Super Bowl.
Case Keenum-Denver Broncos
Keenum joined the Broncos in 2018 after spending the previous season with the Minnesota Vikings, where he had career highs in passing yards (3,547), touchdown passes (22) and completion percentage (67.6). He helped lead the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game.
The 30-year-old was drafted by the Houston Texans in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Houston. He has also spent time with the Rams, Vikings and Broncos. In his career, Keenum has appeared in 60 games with 57 starts, completing 1,396 of 2,201 passes for 17,369 yards with 99 touchdowns and 56 interceptions.
Teddy Bridgewater-New York Jets
Bridgewater, 27, joined the Jets this offseason on a one-year deal worth $6 million to back up starter Sam Darnold. He spent the past three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, starting 17 games and going 11-6 with a 65.9 completion percentage, 69 touchdowns and 24 interceptions.
Running Backs
After a flurry of activity in the first week of free agency, many of the top names on the market have been scooped up. However, there are still a few quality running backs available. This article will take a look at some of the best running backs who are still available in free agency.
DeMarco Murray-Tennessee Titans
Murray had a down year in 2016, rushing for just 788 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging a career-low 3.6 yards per carry. He also caught 53 passes for 377 yards, but the Titans weren’t satisfied with his production and decided to move on. Now 29, Murray will have to find a new team willing to give him a chance to revive his career.
Dion Lewis-New England Patriots
Dion Lewis was one of the most important Patriots offensive players in 2017, and he’s set to be a free agent this offseason.
The 27-year-old running back had a career year in 2017, carrying the ball 180 times for 895 yards (5.0 YPC) and six touchdowns while adding 32 catches for 214 yards and three more scores through the air. He also chipped in with some big plays on special teams, returning 24 kicks for 548 yards (22.8 YPR) and a touchdown.
Lewis is one of the more versatile backs in the league, and he’s shown that he can handle a big workload when called upon. He’s also been very effective in the passing game, which is an important skill for any running back playing in today’s NFL.
The Patriots have a number of other running backs under contract for 2018, but it’s unclear if they will bring Lewis back or let him walk in free agency.
Carlos Hyde-Cleveland Browns
The former San Francisco 49er and Jacksonville Jaguar is still just 28 years old, but he’s already had a long and productive NFL career. Hyde has eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing in two of his six NFL seasons, including a career-high 1,151 yards with the Niners in 2016. He’s also a capable receiver out of the backfield, totaling 59 receptions for 350 yards last season with the Browns. Hyde would be a solid addition to any team’s backfield, and he should have plenty of suitors in free agency.
Wide Receivers
As the NFL offseason continues, there are still plenty of big names remaining on the free-agent market. Among the most notable are a pair of veteran wide receivers.
Sammy Watkins-Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to a three-year, $48 million deal with former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Watkins, 24, was the fourth overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft. He has 153 catches for 2,459 yards and 17 touchdowns in his four NFL seasons.
Allen Robinson-Chicago Bears
The biggest name left in NFL free agency is without a doubt wide receiver Allen Robinson. After being franchised tagged by the Jaguars last offseason, Robinson signed a three-year, $42 million deal with the Chicago Bears. In his first season in Chicago, Robinson caught 98 passes for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns.
Paul Richardson-Washington Redskins
The Washington Redskins have signed wide receiver Paul Richardson to a five-year, $40 million contract with $20 million guaranteed, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Richardson, 26, caught 44 passes for 703 yards and six touchdowns last season with the Seattle Seahawks. He missed the final four games of the season because of a shoulder injury that eventually required surgery.
Tight Ends
There are a few tight ends still available in free agency this NFL off-season. One of the more notable names still on the market is former New England Patriot, Martellus Bennett. The 10-year veteran has played for several teams throughout his career and has been a Pro Bowler.
Tyler Eifert-Cincinnati Bengals
Former Pro Bowl tight end Tyler Eifert is still a free agent, and he recently visited the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Eifert, 28, was drafted by the Bengals in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. He’s been hampered by injuries throughout his career, but when healthy, he’s been a productive player. In 2015, he caught 52 passes for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns, earning Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors.
The Jaguars have struggled to find production from their tight end position since the retirement of Marcedes Lewis after the 2017 season. They signed Austin Seferian-Jenkins in free agency last year, but he was released after just six games.
Trey Burton-Chicago Bears
The 27-year-old Burton figured to be one of the more coveted tight ends on the market, but he’ll have to settle for a “prove it” deal with the Bears. Burton caught 54 passes for 569 yards and six touchdowns last season, when he was used more as a receiver than a blocker.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins-Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars completed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with former New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins. The deal includes $1.5 million in guarantees, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Seferian-Jenkins, 25, had 44 catches for 738 yards and four touchdowns in his four seasons with the Jets and Bucs. He played in nine games last season before suffering a season-ending chest injury that landed him on injured reserve in November.
