Lita’s Early Life
Lita was born in Decatur, Georgia, on April 14, 1975. Her parents divorced when she was just four years old, and she was raised by her single mother. Lita dropped out of high school and began working odd jobs to help support her family. When she was 19 years old, she met roadie Glen Gilberti at a local nightclub, and he invited her to come on tour with his band.
Lita’s family
Amy Dumas, better known as Lita, was born on April 14, 1975, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she was mainly raised by her father. Lita had a troubled childhood and was expelled from multiple schools. She eventually dropped out of high school and moved out of her father’s house when she was 17 years old.
Lita began working as a waitress and then as a strip club dancer to make ends meet. It was during this time that she met Brian Reilly, who would later become her first husband. Brian introduced her to the world of professional wrestling, and the two would often travel together to shows. They eventually got married in 1999, but the marriage only lasted for a year.
Lita’s wrestling career
While having some experience in softball and other sports, Amy Dumas began her wrestling career in high school. After she dropped out of Georgia State University, she began training with wrestling promoter Ricky Steamboat in the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) Power Plant.
Dumas made her professional wrestling debut as Miss Congeniality at a World Championship Wrestling (WCW) Saturday Night taping on February 23, 1999. At the same WCW Saturday Night tapings held the next day on February 24, Miss Congeniality was pinned by Daffney after a bulldog. Dumas was later given the name Lita and paired with Essa Rios. Lita and Rios made their WWF television debut on the March 30 episode of Raw is War coming to the ring during a match between Matt Hardy and WWF Intercontinental Champion Kurt Angle. Lita interfered on Hardy’s behalf which cost him the match.(1)
In early 2001, Lita signed a contract with the WWF and was sent to its then-developmental territory, Memphis Championship Wrestling (MCW), to continue her training.(1) Shortly after returning to WWF television, she began an on-screen relationship with Matt Hardy.(2) When Hardy wrote one of his Live Journals entries revealing his real-life feelings for her,(3) Dumas began receiving hate mail and death threats from angry fans.(4) In mid-2001, Lita suffered a serious neck injury in a match with Rhyno.(5) The injury sidelined her for nearly eight months; during this time, she wrote an autobiography entitled Lita: A Girl’s Life in Wrestling which was released in April 2002. Lita’s Personal Life
Amy Christine Dumas, better known by her stage name Lita, is a semi-retired professional wrestler, currently signed to WWE as a producer. She is married to fellow WWE producer, Glenn Jacobs, better known as Kane. The couple have two daughters together.
Lita’s relationships
Lita has had high-profile relationships with WWE wrestlers Matt Hardy and Edge. She was engaged to both simultaneously and had a public rivalry turned on-screen storyline with Hardy’s ex-girlfriend, fellow wrestler Ashley Massaro.
In November 2005, Lita announced that she was retiring from professional wrestling due to injuries that she had sustained over the course of her career. Her last match took place at Armageddon in December 2005, where she teamed up with Trish Stratus to take on Jillian Hall and Mickie James. Lita has since made occasional appearances with WWE.

Lita has two daughters with her fiancé, wrestler Jon Hardy. Hardy and Lita met while they were both on the independent circuit in 1999. Lita’s return to WWE
In February 2009, Lita made an appearance on WWE Raw to induct Jeff Hardy into the WWE Hall of Fame. On June 7, 2010, it was announced that she would be appearing on the second season of Syfy’s Heroes of Cosplay. On September 28, 2011, Lita made a special appearance on an episode of Monday Night Raw in which she was interviewed by Natalya about her career. Later that night, she had a match with Layla, which she won.
In 2012, Lita took part in a reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) and mentioned that she would like to write an autobiography one day. In March 2014, it was announced that Lita would be appearing on season 2 of the E! reality series Total Divas. In July 2014 at San Diego Comic-Con International, it was revealed that Amy Dumas would be lending her voice to the character Sonia in the video game Skullgirls Encore.
In October 2014, Lita made an appearance at Wizard World Comic Con in Nashville where she was interviewed about her career by former WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia. In early 2015, it was announced that Amy Dumas would be starring in the 2015 horror film Totems.
Lita’s current work
Lita works as a producer for WWE and occasionally makes on-camera appearances. She is also the lead singer of the band The Luchagors. The band released their self-titled debut album on October 7, 2007. Lita appears in the 2009 documentaries Barbie Bliss and Lip Service. In Barbie Bliss, she is interviewed about her career as a professional wrestler. In Lip Service, she appears alongside Trish Stratus, with whom she feuded during their time in WWE.
