Serena Williams

Serena Williams is an American professional tennis player who is currently ranked number 1 in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). She has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the most of any player in the Open Era. Williams has also won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, all with her sister Venus Williams.

Grand Slam titles

By winning the 2019 Wimbledon ladies’ singles title, Williams earned her 24th Grand Slam singles title, surpassing Margaret Court’s record of 23. Williams now holds the record for most Grand Slams won in the Open Era, and is second on the all-time list behind Court.

World ranking

Serena Williams is an American professional tennis player who is currently ranked world No. 1 in women’s singles tennis by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). She has been ranked world No. 1 by the WTA on eight separate occasions, for a total of 319 weeks. Williams first became world No. 1 on July 8, 2002, and regained this ranking for the sixth time on February 18, 2013. She last held the ranking for Weber Open 2014 from July 28 to August 3, 2014.

Serena Williams has earned millions of dollars in prize money during her illustrious career, but her biggest paydays have come from endorsements. The superstar has deals with some of the biggest brands in the world, including Nike, Beats by Dre, and Gatorade. In total, she is estimated to have earned more than $350 million from endorsements alone.

Nike is Serena’s most high-profile sponsor, and she is thought to earn around $10 million per year from the deal. Maria Sharapova is a Russian professional tennis player. She is ranked world No. 7 by the Women’s Tennis Association. She has been world No. 1 in singles on five separate occasions, for a total of 21 weeks. She is one of ten women, and the only Russian, to hold the career Grand Slam.

Grand Slam titles

Maria Sharapova has won five Grand Slam singles titles, tied for sixth-most in the Open Era. She has also won three Olympic medals, including a silver in 2012.

Sharapova’s first major title came at age 17, when she defeated two-time defending champion Serena Williams in the 2004 Wimbledon final for her first Grand Slam singles title. In total, she has reached ten major singles finals, winning five, and has also twice runner-up at the WTA Finals to Serena Williams in 2004 and 2013. Of her five Grand Slam singles titles, three were gained on hardcourt (one at the Australian Open and two at the US Open), one on clay (French Open), and one on grass (Wimbledon). She also won the year-ending WTA Finals in her maiden appearance in 2004.

Simona Halep

Simona Halep is a Romanian professional tennis player. She is the current world No. 1 on the WTA Tour, having first reached the ranking on October 9, 2017. She has won eighteen WTA singles titles and two Grand Slam singles titles at the 2018 French Open and 2020 Wimbledon Championships.

On Monday, April 2, Simona Halep will become the new world No. 1 in the WTA Rankings for the first time in her career. The 25-year-old Romanian will take over the top spot from Germany’s Angelique Kerber, who has held it since September 12, 2016. Halep is currently ranked No. 2 in the world behind Kerber.

Naomi Osaka

Naomi Osaka is a 21-year-old professional tennis player who is currently ranked number 1 in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association. She is the first Japanese player to ever win a Grand Slam singles title, and she has won two major titles in her career so far.

Grand Slam titles

Naomi Osaka has won four Grand Slam titles, including two at the US Open (in 2018 and 2020). She is also the reigning Australian Open champion, having defeating Serena Williams in the final in 2021.

World ranking

As of February 10, 2020, Naomi Osaka is ranked No. 1 in the WTA singles rankings. She is the first Asian player to hold the top ranking in singles, and the second overall after China’s Li Na.

Endorsements

In January 2019, Osaka signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Nike. Financial terms were not disclosed, but it was reportedly the biggest sponsorship deal ever for a female athlete signed at that time. The previous record had been set by Maria Sharapova in 2005. In the wake of her US Open victory, Japanese wristwatch maker Citizen Watch announced that they had signed Osaka to an endorsement deal. In September 2018, Osaka signed a multiple-year agreement with Japanese car company Mazda.

Petra Kvitova

Petra Kvitova is a professional tennis player from the Czech Republic. She is currently ranked as the number two player in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). She has won two Wimbledon singles titles and is a two-time runner-up at the French Open. Kvitova has also won several other prestigious titles, including the WTA Tour Championships and the WTA Elite Trophy.

Grand Slam titles

Kvitova has won eleven Grand Slam titles in her career- two at Wimbledon, and one each at the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open.

As of February 10, 2020, Kvitova is ranked world No. 2 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), after previously holding the ranking for 64 consecutive weeks from October 2017 until October 2019. She has also been ranked world No. 2 in doubles by the WTA. Kvitova first became world No. 2 on 21 February 2011, and held this position for six weeks until 7 March 2011.

Kvitova has numerous sponsorships andendorsements. She has been sponsored by Reebok, Yonex, Babolat, Rado watches, and Porsche. Petra is currently endorsed by Nike. Kvitova has also been used in campaigns for ČEZ Group, a leading electricity producer in the Czech Republic. In 2011, she appeared in an advert for Opel Astra.In 2012, Petra signed a two-year deal with Credit Suisse.
