Outfielders
The outfield is the area of the field beyond the infield. The positions of the outfielders are left field, center field, and right field. Outfielders must be able to judge the trajectory of a ball hit over their head and run to catch up to it, as well as fielding balls hit close to them quickly so as to throw out batters at first base or runners at other bases.
Theleft fielder acts as the last line of defense against home runs hit toward left field; center fielders defend against home runs hit toward center field (generally the deepest part of the outfield); and right fielders defend against home runs hit toward right field.
Pitchers
Team USA’s pitching staff is a strong mix of established veterans and fresh young arms. Headlined by Masahiro Tanaka, the team’s ace, the staff also includes Dallas Keuchel, Marcus Stroman, Chris Archer, Shane Bieber, and Patrick Corbin. All of these pitchers have been All-Stars at some point in their careers, and they give Team USA a deep and talented staff.

The Baseball World Cup was originally created to be an alternative to the Olympic Games, which did not include baseball as a sport until 1992. However, since its inception, the Baseball World Cup has been overshadowed by the much more popular World Baseball Classic.
