The NFL playoffs are in full swing, and we’re here to help you figure out who’s still in it to win it. Check out our latest blog post to find out who’s out of the playoffs and who’s still fighting for a chance to take home the Lombardi Trophy.

AFC

As the NFL playoffs roll on, we’re now down to just four teams remaining in the race for the Super Bowl. In the AFC, the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers have advanced to the conference championship game. Who will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl?

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The Ravens compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The team plays its home games at M&T Bank Stadium and is headquartered in Owings Mills.

The Ravens were established in 1996, when Art Modell, who was then the owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced plans to relocate the franchise to Baltimore. As part of a settlement between Modell, the city of Cleveland, and the other NFL teams, the Ravens agreed to give up their name, colors, and history in Cleveland Browns. In return, they were allowed to take their current name and team colors from a previous incarnation of Baltimore Colts that played between 1953 and 1983. The Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII in 2013.

Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are a professional football team based in Houston, Texas. The Texans compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) South division. The team plays its home games at NRG Stadium in Houston’s NRG Park, which also houses its headquarters and training facilities.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed its current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion. Hunt’s son, Clark, serves as chairman and CEO.

The team plays its home games at Arrowhead Stadium, which is located in Kansas City, Missouri. The franchise began play in 1960 as the Dallas Texans, an expansion team of the American Football League (AFL). The club was purchased by Lamar Hunt in 1962. In 1963, after Hunt agreed to a merger between the AFL and the NFL, he relocated his franchise to Kansas City and renamed it the Kansas City Chiefs.

New England Patriots

Most experts had the Patriots pegged as a lock for the AFC’s top seed, and that’s exactly where they ended up. They went 13-3 and will have home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Steelers compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) North division. Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest franchise in the AFC.

The team played their home games at Three Rivers Stadium from 1970 to 2000. Three Rivers was demolished in 2001, and the team moved into their new home, Heinz Field, which sits on the site of the old stadium. The Steelers have won six Super Bowls, which is tied with the New England Patriots for the most by any franchise; they have also played in more AFC Championship Games than any other team, with ten appearances overall.

The Steelers have an intense rivalry with their AFC North rivals, particularly the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens. They also maintain close rivalries with cross-state rivals Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins, as well as national rivals New England Patriots and Denver Broncos.
